26 Weeks Until

Christmas and winter. Yes, that's right. I saw it on Facebook a few days ago that it was 27 weeks, but a few days have passed since that was posted and I checked the calendar, counting the weeks myself. Now that's something to look forward to.
I do love winter as most of you who know me know. So it isn't any surprise that with temps heating up in the northern hemisphere that I'm looking forward to those white snowflakes fluttering down to earth. If we have as much snow as we've had rain we should have a very good winter here as well. At least I hope so.
So I know it's only a couple days into summer, and everyone is enjoying the beach and being able to play in their gardens and enjoy the beautiful flowers, but me, yes, I do love the flowers even though I can't grow them, I am still looking forward to the beginning of winter and my favorite time of year - Christmas.
You know what that means don't you? There are only 26 shopping weeks until Christmas.
So all of you in the really hot places of the earth, think cool - winter is coming.
Thanks for reading.

I usually think about Halloween and keep that in my thoughts. That is when it is getting chilly here and so nice out. Halloween and autumn is probably my favorite time of year.

@celticeagle I hadn't heard that about the ozone layer, but I have seen the record temps.

@Freelanzer Right now the temps are perfect, not too hot, with a nice breeze. If summer were like that every day and not the broiling heat, it would be nice to have around.

When the boys were little I started my Christmas shopping on Labor Day (first Monday in September). I would buy one gift every payday. It was the only way to keep from running up charge cards. It worked. I'll start thinking about what gifts I want to make soon.

It's such a pretty season. Snow makes it look so pure and unspoiled - at least until it gets dirty. I love the crispness of the air too besides all those beautiful snowflakes.
It's wonderful that God made this planet with such a variety of climates so we can choose which we like best.

@just4him We all decided this last year. My sister in law was in hospital, my niece stressed about the health of her mom. We said, finally, it's only a stress to have to buy gifts, Christmas should be a happy moment. I feel relieved not to have to think to gifts.

I've gone swimming three days in a row and my Winnie the Pooh belly seems to be declining somewhat. I think I'll enjoy the warm weather while it's here. But, like you, I enjoy Winter. I miss "real Winters" here in California.

@DianneN I know you're probably missing your favorite bird and wondering how he and his family are doing. He'll be there to welcome you back as soon as you get there. But then you'll miss your favorite kitty while you're there. You know you can't have it both ways, right?

Winter is not my favorite season. I do love to watch the snow flutter to the ground, but that is about it.
My favorite is the warmer months. Watching new life blossom and then bloom, and then turn to shades of brightness in the fall.

It's not noticeable yet. We just had our longest day a few days ago. I expect as soon as the 4th of July is over we're going to see not only the back to school stuff, but Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas all coming out at the same time.

Christmas will be here, and then gone, in no time at all. Sadly, the commercial interests spread the "Christmas Season" out so long now that for me it has become tarnished. I know I should concentrate on the spiritual meaning of Christmas, but that too has lost some of its allure as I've studied more church history and learned more about the holidays founding and history.

If you live in the tropics that's possible. However, I don't think that's the case in Romania.
