Back with some blue color songs from the 50's musical era for today. The first artist's song became a pop hit following up on the success of "Come Softly With Me." They were the first group in the world to have two #1 singles top the hot 100 billboard chart in one year. This happened in 1959, and the hot 100 began in mid-1958. Our second artist is known as the "The Father of Rockabilly" and this hit of 1956 was also covered by two musical giants in Elvis and The Beatles. The third artist in today's color song countdown gave us that classic R&B New Orleans sound, and sold more records than any black rock n' roll artist in the 1950's. This hit was a Richie Cunningham favorite on the TV show "Happy Days." Know the Artists? Any other facts in your responses about these recording artists is welcome. Songs: 1. Mr. Blue 2. Blue Suede Shoes 3. Blueberry Hill That's all for now, to be continued... *Wikipedia used for Artist bio

Yes, Mr. Blue was a 1959 hit from a group called The Fleetwoods. The pop groups success ended with the British invasion of the 60's when musical tastes changed. Thanks for playing, almost had them all.

The Fleetwoods sang the song Ocean T., a # 1 hit for them in 1959. They also had a #1 with "Come and Go With Me" featured on the American Graffiti soundtrack. The group covered the song from a group you may know, and whose version is much better in my opinion, The Del Vikings.

@dgobucks226 Only know Blue Suede Shoes is Elvis? I brought this song up recently to my dad asking if Neil Diamond sang it too but apparently not. I must be confusing something else he sang. Maybe I'm thinking about Forever In Blue Jeans.... Anyway I don't know the other two.

The Fleetwoods was the answer to 1. They were a pop group in the late 50's and early 60's whose popularity ended with the British Invasion. Blueberry Hill was recorded by Fats Domino. A favorite of Richie Cunningham on "Happy Days." Blue Suede Shoes was originally done by Carl Perkins and covered by Elvis later.

I can't think of Mr. Blue. Carl Perkins and Fats Domino on the other two.

Thought you might get it John from the "Come Softly with Me" clue which is a song I think was in American Graffiti. Actually, the original version was sung by the Del Vikings and featured in that movie. The "Fleetwoods" covered the song later in 1959 and scored a billboard #1 hit. Great effort Thanks for playing
