i think most of the options out there would depend on where you live i mean you wouldnt use solar in a rainforest or hydro in the desert but maybe a combo of 2 or 3 if you were in the prime location to do it

@horormike Of course, you're right. One thing many people ignore is passive solar where you use the sun to dry your clothes, warm your living room, etc. Solar ovens, solar battery chargers and so on, can make a real dent in how much electricity we have to buy and as long as you live where the sun shines at least sometimes, you can take advantage of those methods.

What is green energy. As of now solar energy is better as much as we heard about it.

Of course I will opt to do green energy.
I think aside from solar energy and wind turbines, we can also generate energy water or hydro power and the dynamo.

@horormike Another reason people might want to use green energy is freedom from the worry of an EMP or "normal" power outage.

would you do it to save the planet or would you do it more to save yourself some money or even make some extra money

Start small. Passive solar is cheap or free (sun drying clothes, sun dried vegetables and fruits, homemade solar ovens and so on. Small solar units can be had second hand in some places. Just add to what you have as you can. It's surprising how much difference it will make.
