We have never celebrated Christmas in July. Are there gifts exchanged or is it just getting together with family and friends, over a meal? Please enlighten me!

Christmas in July? What a weird idea, I never heard anything like this. People in our country leave on vacation on July.

I think it is a commercial idea, if you ask me!

@dianadee May be because right now it's the cold season in your country.

Here in the US, Christmas in July is mostly a sales gimmick by the retail stores to get people to shop at a time of year when revenue for retailers is at a low ebb. Some TV networks also play into the idea by running old Christmas movies in July, and the Hallmark Channel does a whole Christmas in July campaign leading up to the reveal of their new ornaments for the next Christmas.

I don't celebrate Christmas in July and I don't know where that tradition came from.
