Can you stand to do computer work?

Sometimes it stands to reason that you burn more calories while standing than sitting. So why not have a computer stand with rollers so you can stand to do your computer work standing upright and move around without having to get up and down and for some people, this is better than sitting on the job.

In many cases it is preferred over sitting long periods.

@lookatdesktop I think it is fine if we can practice the Proper Body Mechanics in standing position.

I often wondered if there was perhaps some kind of adjustable laptop that you could lay in bed and do work while in bed. That might appeal to some people but I think it is impractical. Mostly if I am doing computer work I like sitting in a comfy arm chair at my desk and type on my desktop.

Always some new gadget to tempt us to spend money. However, this does not tempt me at all. I can't even breath standing up although I can do anything I want as long as I can reach it from a sitting position. So, I definitely would not be trying to use my computer standing.
When I was younger, though I did have my computer set up on my counter so I could just walk up to it and do whatever I needed. I could also pull up a bar stool and sit down for longer sessions.

@lookatdesktop If you have to move around a lot it is different, may be that standing also helps to gain time.

Sorry you have a back problem. Yea, standing at the computer is not my cup of tea either. But I knew a guy who did this and he said it was good for him because sitting made his back hurt and he had to do a lot of moving around in the shipping and receiving department.

I won't invest nearly that much money in one. I would want to try one out as a test and see first if I actually liked doing this. I might not enjoy it much and it would be a lot of money to just spend on a novelty.
