Should all people on Earth have at least one child?

Have it ever crossed your mind that before you grow white hairs and get a wrinkled skin, you should need to have at least one child? It has been a long time culture here that a person should never grow old alone. He or she must have a child to look after him or her during old age.

@silvermist Yes, I am on your side. But here in our country, majority thinks that a person who does not have a child will be a pity when he or she is already old.

@silvermist I agree with you. Having kids does not ensure we will be taken care of when we get old. Having kids is like gambling. Sometimes you get lucky with them and sometimes not.

@annierose Here too that trend is here. But I see lot of old people with children neglected when old.We should never expect our children to look after us in old age.

No, the earth is overpopulated.. and some people are just so dumb they shouldn't breed at all.. I would hate to bring a child into this world now. it is getting worse and worse.

@annierose No, not at all, when my brother had a daughter I remember that I thought that I was happy to have a niece, but I would have not liked to have children.

Its so happen that I have children. But I think its not that reason you mentioned that we should have child-- not just to look after us when we grow old. More than that is the feeling of love between parent and child that we should experience. Caring is not compulsory because because anybody can look after us when we grow old, like caregivers and nurses.

@ilocosboy Some people believe that people will only care if the old person has plenty of money. But for those who don't have money and already old, only few will care.

@ilocosboy agree. I hate it when people tell me to have at least one child if I don't want to get married. I don't want to have a child because I have nothing and I hate being in hospital. I have a fear of needles and injections. And I don't want to have a child without a father. For me, the best thing to do is make money while I am still young and save so I could pay a caregiver when I get old.

@annierose still its not a good principle that to have a child is to have to care for you when you get old. Though it could be done but I think its not the requirement for us to have a child and then give them this responsibility.

Having a child is not a guarantee that you will be taken care of your child. I know a lot of Germans with children who put their elderly parents in the home for the aged as they have no time for them and just don't want to do that . So sad.

@thelme55 I agree. I don't like it be done to my parents too. They took care of us when we were incapable on our own and I think when they are already old, it should be the perfect time to return the favor to them.

I think it is up to people's choice. Different people have difference choices. Some prefer to have a lot of children, some even don't want children at all. I think it is OK. In my opinion, two children will be perfect for a family. As they will feel alone in their childhood. And they can support each other when they grow up.

@annierose I don't want more. I just think two will be perfect. I have a son only. As at that time my country still carried out One Child Policy. Today it is different. We are allowed to have two children. But it is late as my son is already a grade 7 student and this will be a big generation gap between two children. Besides, I am older and I don't want to take a risk. It would be nice I could have a daughter. But one day I can have a daughter-in-law and it is almost the same

@youless So your kids are both boys? If I am not mistaken, Chinese people gives more favor to sons rather than daughters? That is what I have been hearing. But when my Chinese friend stayed with us, he told me that his sister has more allowance than him.

With a population of already 7.6 BILLION people on this planet.....NO!!!!!! There's plenty of kids out there in adoption agencies that if someone really wanted a child, they could adopt. Don't be part of the problem, be part of the solution. Just saying @annierose .

@nanette64 I agree with you. That is what I have been hearing to a lot of my professors. However, some people do not want to adopt because they are worried about the biological background of those kids whose parents they don't even know.

It's not required for every family to have a child but having one is a very big blessing from above. It all depends to our Creator if he will bless us with that wonderful gift.

No, some people just don't want kids. Either they don't want the responsibility becomes they have a lot they wish to accomplish in life or they just can't handle the responsibility of having a child and raising it properly.

Well, it will be better if we are born for that one child policy. But we are not, 2 or 3 children will be okay to emphasize but here in our country. Other people don't think about it carefully. Instead of focusing on their children in how to build them into a good citizen. They don't just care at all.

In my country to bring children this is considered a blessing, so most of the people here have children? and there are those who believe that as much as possible ...is better ... I think that not everyone has to bring a child into our world, especially if he feels that he is unable to take responsibility for his growth or does not have the financial ability to support a child ...
