“Can we just pass out when someone just won’t stop talking?”

There are so many sets of people that we may encounter in our daily lives. We tend to be flexible in dealing with them. It could be bad or good but we still need to be polite in calling their attention. Seriously, I can’t tolerate a chatterbox in a working place. I am so patient enough to listen to them. But then, there are always limitations in everything. “Are you patient enough to talk with chatterbox?” Image Credit: pixabay.com

I think it is fine to lend our ears if we are not busy.

Most of the times yes but if its a work place and I need to get on with the job I just tend to smile and get on with what I am doing if I can.

Some co-workers are so insensitive. At some point, I need to excuse myself and continue to work.

i don't talk much even when with my friends. it is because they know i get easily tired when i exert effort to speak. but when somebody talks incessantly, i would just slowly stand back and behind and leave, even without excusing myself.

In my previous jobs, they never dare to disturb me while working. I can't stand hearing them if I am on focus.

I tend to tune someone out if they go on and on about something and look like I am listening.

I think it is fine to be in such situation. For the reason that we don't want to hurt others' feelings.

@Shavkat I understand Shavkat and I do not want to hurt someone's feelings but when they go on and on and on it is hard to really listen to them.

It depends on whether chatterbox's words interest me and I have time I will listen to him. If not, I will continue on my way and get away from him...

At some point, I need to stay away from them. Sometimes these people love to gossip about the others. I don't tolerate gossip.

Depends. If said chatterbox is talking to me about stuff that I am interested in and I have the time, then I can talk and be okay with it. However, since you mentioned that it happened in the workplace, I have no patience. I have lots of things to do on a daily basis, and I also go to grad school so if I have free time in between, I would rather do a little bit of reading. Imagine, I have to bring my lunch at work and eat at my desk so I can also do homework - that's how busy I am everyday. I wouldn't mind having a non-work related conversation with my co-workers, but it should not take more than a few minutes. If I sensed that the conversation is getting longer to my liking, then I would suggest through my body language that I am done talking and I need to get back to work. If the co-worker cannot take a hint, then I will just have to be vocal and excuse myself that I have something to do.

You did a good sounds judgment about the situation. I tend to be frank and let it go if needed to these people. I hated most for some of these people are being insensitive. There is always a time for everything.

No,not at all .I have zero tolerance to people talking all the time at work place. I personally feel it isn't an appropriate thing to do at a place of work.

I still remember my previous co-workers. They never finished their job because of being talkative.

No not anymore. I used to be more than able, but as years have gone on, I find my tolerance level has gone down for this.

@Shavkat I'm a good & patient listener, but like you said, there will be a limit to anything. Thankfully, all chatterboxes I encountered till this day are tolerable

That's nice that they are tolerable. As for me, I need to make it clear to them something. If it is work matter, there is no need to disturb others.
