So I had my hands obviously full I had two foods bags as well as holding my out of control nephew over my shoulder while leaving McDonald's and this guy did not hold the door for me, in fact it basically slammed in my face.
I mean what the heck is wrong with people these days seriously??? What the heck happened to common freaking decency and being kind to people.
I was fuming he knew I was behind him before he left so it was no accident. I was so tempted by sit my nephew down just to throat punch the guy...
I mean seriously????? What the heck???? People are so rude!!!!

I had just the opposite happen to me. I was astonished. A young man held the door for me as I was going in to pick up a pizza. I smiled at him and thanked him for holding the door.
As I went to pay for my pizza he came back inside and insisted on paying for my pizza. He pulled out his credit card and paid for it before I even realized what he was doing. And then he hugged me and left without even telling me his name. I'm still overwhelmed by it all.

What a sweet gentleman that is how people with good morals and respect were raised.

@chrissbergstrom Yes, it was such a sweet gesture. But, I felt that I should be paying for HIS pizza.

Society as a whole has become rude, insensitive and selfish.

I am guilty of doing this to people but only when I wasn't aware they were behind me, and I always apologize when I realize I allowed the door to shut on them (and try to catch it if I realize they're behind me at the last minute.) But some people really are just rude. I have held doors open for people and they just glare at you and don't bother to thank you, so I might yell out "you're welcome!" when they do that. But having someone slam the door in your face when your hands are obviously full is the worst. I would have wanted to throat punch that jerk too.

@chrissbergstrom People just suck sometimes. I hate going out in public and having to be around all the rude jerks.

People certainly can be rude. For my own sake, I try to give them the benefit of the doubt, especially when I'm driving (which I know you weren't, but still...). I make up a story about them. Like, "Oh poor thing, they have diarrhea and have to make it to a bathroom" or "Oh my, his wife has just gone into labor" or some kind of emergency like that.
On the other hand, sometimes people are simply rude. "Bless their hearts," as Southern culture puts it, "they just weren't raised right."
Also, what goes around comes around. If he was intentionally rude, he'll get his some day.

But what good would that have really done, and what type of example would that have set? Personally I think you were best just minding your own business and hope in the future you get somebody with some decent courtesy to want to help you out.

Oh yes, some people are rude.
Especially when I take the extra few minutes to open the door for someone and they walk by like their boss. No thank you, nothing.

People just don't care about others anymore. I always hold the door for people. It only takes a couple seconds and costs nothing.

Hm, I was going to say that is amazing, but the more I think on it, I agree with @TRBRocks420 said... kindness is the exception, it's like a whole generation of narcissists....
