Being private is not being arrogant..!!

People who are shy and private are often misunderstood being arrogant. Which is in fact opposite, the private people are generally the sweetest people in their close group. Once they open up to you, you will find them an emotional and caring being. So it's like never judge a book by its cover. Do you know any person whom you thought as being arrogant but later found them the exact opposite?

I am one of those private people. I am reserved and don't really like to share about my life to others. I don't think this makes me a bad person.

@shaynas I agree to this but unfortunately I can't do much. Either they accept me like I am or reject me. I can't change. I was born that way

@Nawsheen Right, we can't change the nature we are born with. Some personality traits always remain. I am also like you, a loner. I enjoy it this way :)

It doesn't at all. But many people(who don't know you well) might misunderstand you.

Finally! someone who understands us. I'm a very shy and quiet person to the extent that people think I'm proud and don't want to associate myself with people cos I feel I'm higher than them, which is not the case. Sometimes, I'm pushed to act extroverted and pretend just to make people happy. But thank God I've left that behind. Be yourself and you.right people would flock around you.

I truly understand you. I have heard many times about myself too - that I am a proud and rude person (of course from people who hardly know me) which is far from reality. Being yourself is important, we are not here to make everyone happy on the cost of our comfort

Some people think that I am a snob person. I don't talk too much and be judged as you had described. At some point, they changed mind when they had known me. That's the problem of some people. They should know first the person before spilling beans towards others.

@shaynas I hope people will realize this. They need to know the person better than scrutinizing them.

Exactly, that is how it should happen. but unfortunately people seem to make an opinion even without getting a chance to know the person. And being private people, perhaps we understand world better and don't judge others so easily.

Yes, many actually. Some people take time to open up and there's nothing wrong with that.

@shaynas Sadly, yes. People can be too quick to judge others, unfortunately.

Now you have. I am one of them . Many people who don't know me feel I am arrogant (may be because I don't walk to them or initiate any conversation), but in reality I am far away from being arrogant. :)

It is true that it takes time for some people to open up and they do not open up in the first meeting. You have rightly said that we should not judge a book by its cover, we should allow the other person some time to open up.

@shaynas Yes, some people are quick to judge without knowing the background of a person. People should not judge others at the first instance and try to understand him/her. Having said that some people are incorrigible and you cannot change them and they immediately make comments about others.

But the people are more judgemental than they should. They like judging people at every front, not knowing their situation. Every person is different and have different way of handling things, we must understand this.

Private people are often misunderstood. But why painful. I am like that and it hardly matters to me what others think of me

Arrogant people are never shy in flaunting their their overbearing manners especially towards those they consider inferior to them. So it is wrong to say that shy people are arrogant. They're protecting their privacy.

True that - being shy and being arrogant are two opposite things. But just because you protect the privacy, you are misunderstood.
