This is an old picture of fireworks where we used to live. As long as it does not start raining we are planning to go to a display in a nearby town.
The forecast is different, depending on where you get it from. Some say it is going to rain. Others say not until Friday. Hubby was trying to do something outside and it rained on him a little.
I wish the fireworks had been last night, so then we could sleep in this morning. Tomorrow is a work day.
I hope those of you in the US are enjoying the holiday and also remembering what we are celebrating.

I always make sure to call it Independence Day on here as everyone has a fourth of July, but it is our Independence. I have never read Angelas Ashes. maybe I will.

The main fireworks here are usually over by 930, and they were tonight. Not that late. Heard thrm from the house but could barely see them.

It worked out fine. We talked about watching on television, but instead went to the lake.
There was no formal show, but lots of people around having their own fireworks and we could watch it all, and not be in a crowd and enjoy looking at the water as well.

I think our area escaped with no fires. We have had some rain. I honestly did not want to go to the big shindig. When parking was so scarce we chose to go to the lake and it was lovely. Not too many fireworks, lots of night animal sounds.

I have a hard time with crowds. I would rather watch at a distance or on television.

My job does not work for a large part of the summer. I am glad as I could then be with my husband when he had a stroke. His job does not work evenings, weekends, or holidays. So we were at home.

Some people enjoy all the explosions and sparkling ashes. They are nice if they do not do it too much.

@GardenGerty I think it adds up to air pollution. I agree that it should be limited.

If I were arranging it, the late evening fireworks would be on the third, then the parade, carnival, and in town games could be on the fourth. Make it a two day celebration.

@GardenGerty That sounds like a good idea, but even the 3rd should be declared a holiday.

We ended up going to the lake. Yes, it was romantic. Our first date we went to a lake, twenty years ago. So we watched fireworks and watched the boats in the dark and listened to the animals in the dark.

What is your fiesta honoring? Fireworks seem to be a very common way to celebrate.
