Severe allergic reactions

I have a friend who died recently because of the severe allergic reaction. I do have allergies in seafood and antiobiotic so it really scares me. My friend had hives when he eaten a shrimp which is very usual with him so he took an antihistamine to lessen the itchiness. After hours of taking the meds, he suddenly had difficulty of breathing and he fainted. After that he was rushed to the Hospital add was delared dead on arrival. His family was surprised because his sudden death. Anyone here who experienced severe allergic reaction?
