Want To Be Writer Woes

I want to write a book. I'm always told I have a good imagination and skill with writing. Of that, I have no doubt. The problem is that I don't want to self publish. I look up agencies online, but most of them just seem to work with e-books now. I have asked people before, and they said they would buy my book if they could hold it in their hands, smell the pages, all that. But, getting a book into print is no easy task. Another problem is the various facets of writing that I would like to cover. I have a murder-mystery ready. I have a cookbook almost ready. I have a science fiction in the works. All of it seems rather useless if I can't find a way to query a literary agent that doesn't sound like they are just trying to self-publish the book for me.

For you to be known and accepted, I believe you should make your first few stories/books free for readers to view... This is one of the ways to promote yourself as well as your books.. This is my opinion only.

I'm in the middle of 2 stories, but I sometimes find they will be useless to finish if they end up in the slush pile and nobody cares for them. But it's a risk and part of the job description I suppose. Good luck.

Firstly we need to eliminate some negative energies here. Focus on why you should get published, not what's on your way. Set your goals and do not fear the setbacks. Challenges comes naturally, so is success.

Apparently there is a book out, I think this book comes out every year of all the places you can submit your writing. Your local library might have a copy or go online and look up literary agents. There are legitimate places where you can send your book. And yes it is hard to get your book in print, but don't give up and please keep writing.

I know of the book of literary agents that is updated and re-released every year. It has a list of all the agents in the states I think.

Some writers started to self-publish a book and got an agency interested to publish it too. You never now who reads you and can be discovered by a reader who works in an agency. Sometimes, professionals are searching for new talents who suddenly get an offer. Maybe, it doesn't happen very often, but it's a chance.
