We all keep thinking all the time to navigate through our life and we just do not realize it.
However, the point is - do you feel that do you indulge in over-thinking?
I think that many of us go the extent of over thinking but we hardly realize it. Over thinking drains us out and make us feel stressed sucking out our valuable energy.
To overcome this problem, we could spare five - ten minutes in a day and let out thoughts roam free in our mind, without applying any logic. We should not control our thoughts and let it come in our mind. If one could do it once in a day, it will help him save his valuable energy and he would feel better.
What are your own ways to avoid over thinking on an issue?

It means that you indulge in over thinking and rather than worrying about this habit of yours, you enjoy it like the game of chess.
It is good that it helps you away from evil thinking.

We basically all worry and over think about minor issues. It is a good idea to indulge yourself in some activity or listening to your favorite music or think about our blessings in life.
PS - I hope you are doing well.

Don't you try to divert your mind, which you feel that you are over thinking about an issue?

Hi my friend, how are you?
For me, keeping busy is my way of avoiding over thinking on an issue...but then it keeps coming back.. I find out that I can't move on until an answer is given to me.... So if an issue needs to be solved, it'd better be solved asap.

Hi dear! I am doing good.
It means that you keep thinking about an issue till it gets resolved and if it is not resolved than you keep worrying about it? Is it?

@dpk262006 yes, that was what I had been doing since off work. I/we just had our answer but it didn't say anything...but at least now I know which way I have to go next. One issue being solved that also leads to another new issue.

Over doing of anything can be problematic, let alone the over thinking. You have mentioned a very good way to overcome this problem and I know that it works because I practice it at times.

Yes, I fully agree with you that excess of everything is bad, let alone over thinking.
It is good to hear that you practice the method mentioned in my post and it works for you.

@Bodyandbrain It is wiser on your part to let all thoughts travel in your mind so that you could feel better after a while.

I think it is the nature of human beings to think about an issue over and over again. I too have the habit, if I try to over come it I never succeed now I will pray or do something related with God, it may be reading a Holy book or reading some other things.

Yes, although most of us over think about an issue, the point is how could we avoid over thinking. To pray to God or to read a holy book are the good options to keep our mind diverted.

You indulge in over thinking but you take it as a positive trait because it helps you keep your memory intact and sharp.

Good point, its been asked for thousands of years, apparently even in ancient greece before they had credit cards/social media and smart phones this was still a problem ;)
its a catch 22, the best way to be happy is to live in the moment and not over think things, but the unexamined life is arguably not worth living...
I suppose balance is the only way to get past it, try to accept that you cant know everything, and a lot if it is out of your control anyway!

Yes, you are right that in ancient times also, people used to indulge in over thinking also and this habit has passed over the generation. You have rightly suggested that we should live the life, as it comes, instead of worrying about past of future.
Welcome to mylot.

You know me . .. I am always overthinking . Everyone needs an outlet . . . and I like to come to myLot to let out some of this overthinking . When I used to skate, being on the ice was great because I could focus solely on that and literally forget everything else in the world for that moment.

Yes, you are right that when we get busy in an activity, we forget about our worries and do not over think about an issue. You have given a very good example of ice skating.

I don't over think as it is bad for your psyche (P.S. no scientific claims have been made to the following statement)
I just live in the moment. That's what I like to do. I let the winds guide me where to go.(poetic rhetorical)
And I like the day organize my schedule for me.(another rhetoric, but of no poetic origin) there's too much hassle if I do it on my own. I just let the moment live in me as I live in the moment (rhetorical flourish...*curtseying*)
Thanks

Over thinking is not bad for psyche because we just cannot stop our thinking process, our mind keeps working all the time.
It is good to hear that you love to live in present and you just let the winds guide you, rather than your carving your own path.
I am wondering how the day organize your schedule, rather than your scheduling your day yourself, as per your convenience.
