Going to the Final Ultra Sound

I've been asked to join my daughter in law and my son to go with them for the final ultra sound tomorrow. The due date is Sept 16!
All is well with the baby so far. From previous ultrasounds the doctor has found that according to the measurements he will not be as tall as my son when fully grown. That remains to be seen, but of course it doesn't matter.
I'm actually not sure how tall my son is, crazy as that seems. I do know he isn't more than 5' 11". Neither of my sons, nor my husband were 6'. My youngest grandson, at 16 is much shorter than his classmates. My grandfather was only 5' 5" when he joined the army in 1914 according to his military records. It was only after his death that someone mentioned my grandmother was taller than he. I had never noticed so went to find photos to verify that. She was.
So, tomorrow I am not sure what they are looking for, but I'll be there.

Isn't it amazing to be able to see your grandchild before he's born? I remember how amazed I was when I would go with my daughter and I felt connected to my granddaughter before her birth. I wish we had such technology when I was pregnant with my children.

I did have an ultra sound with my youngest. It's great technology, but it's still somewhat hard for me to imagine that's it my grandchild!

Congratulations! What matters is that the baby is going to be healthy.

I was so pleased she asked me! We are not as close as I'd like as we moved away just before the wedding. Hoping some bonding is coming along with the baby.

They're probably just going to make sure the baby isn't moved to the wrong position. Hope all is well with it tomorrow.

@Courtlynn she did say she was exposed to some fumes at work and they were also checking to see if there was any distress, but there was not and it was so awesome to be a part of this visit. My son was there and her mother along with me and I was so glad I got to be there .

You never know for sure, but they are good at calculating now. I'm not holding them to their estimate!

@BettyB yes I heard that too and I measured all of my kids on their second birthday but I gave them all their own baby books and so I don't know if they double their size or not ! I will have to investigate that, ha ha !!

@Jeanniemaries When my boys were little they said to measure them on their second birthday and then double it. It was pretty close.

And you know, they really do not know. I knew a young man that at 18 looked to be 12. Short, youthful. He filled out right nicely. I know that you are going to treasure this new little one forever.

I am! My daughter was off the charts small when she was in grade school and is 5' 2" today. Average for a woman.

we were not able to see his face as he wouldn't turn to the right area to get a good picture, but he does have the cutest foot ever!

Wow, I didn't know that these days, ultrasound could tell how tall the baby would be later. That is very interesting.

It remains to be seen how accurate they are! Ha ha. But I don't care when where the other it's just interesting to know anything about him at this point!

@Jeanniemaries Makes me think of certain Sci-fi movies, in which some extreme leaders went out of their ways to find embryos with certain genes, and just terminate them before they could be born. (Say, kids with dark hair, dark complexion, short, crooked teeth, low IQ, etc)
