Is money spent on food a lost money?

One of the greatest pleasures of my life is being able to eat (and eat well, preferably). However, talking to a few more friends early, they told me that a money (a high amount) spent on different foods is a waste of money.
What do you think about it?

I think that if you want to eat that food, eat it and dont worry about the cost, life is short live well.

Of course not. I agree with you. Enjoying the food is important and also a pleasure in our life. In my city we enjoy eating. We have a saying here: Eating in Guangzhou. As you can have many delicious from here. The eating is a culture here.

Money spent on food is not a waste in my opinion unless the food spoils or is obnoxiously expensive.

I kind of see what they are saying? If your on a strict budget certain items like brand name foods, sweets, organic products and luxury items like steak could be seen as a waste of money. Especially, if things are tight and you are budgeting for gas, a mortgage, and clothes for your family. It really comes down to balancing the things you enjoy with the things that are affordable. It is a personal choice for each individual.

This totally depends on how you view life; if you see things as there are meant to be simply then you wouldn't consider money spend on eating well as a waste. The only down side to this is when you end of wasting the food. Let's have a dinner out together with the bills in you anyways.

No. The only way i see money on food being bad is when the food is wasted.

That may be their opinion. All that matters is how you feel. If spending money on different foods brings you pleasure then so be it.
