What Type Of Work Do You Do, Or retired From Doing?

I wanted to be a race car driver when I was a little kid because I loved to go fast in the car. I wanted to be an attorney or a psychiatrist when I was a teen just before getting out of school. But then I got married and that was that, except I did lean more about mental problems early on, with several people (in-laws) that were schizophrenic and more that is bi-polar, late in life my sister became bi-polar. Many I know have anxiety and panic attacks. I have to say after dealing with those in-laws I no longer wanted to be a psychiatrist. But the law, I just cannot step away, I still to this day love it. Although I am getting up in years I would still love to go to college and get that degree. Criminal of coarse but I would even consider wills and estates since I have dealt with the probate courts for the last 20 years. Now I have retired from two jobs, one was my own lawn care service but no SS will come from that because I did not pay any in. Another was the industrial roofing business (no house roofs) at one time I just ran it and then I was made partner, years later we sold it. Now I am a rental property owner, renting out houses. But I have began to sell a few, maybe buy more in another place. After all the world is changing and I will change with it. But I am thinking of retiring from this job also, so what will I be next? What do you do for a living? Photo of one of my rentals houses

I was a secretary for a propane company for a couple years and I loved it but we moved and had more children. Now I love my job of being home with my kids and Home Schooling them.

Do you think that you will go back to being a secretary when the children are grown.

Jennifer, tell us what it is like to home school your kids? Did they go to school and it was so bad that you decided to home school them or what brought you to that decision?

I currently pull weeds and wish more food would grow on a little three acre place. For pay: I worked back office in Veterinarian's clinics and I also did caregiving for seniors in their homes plus I've cleaned houses and banks.

@andriaperry I found caregiving to be not super hard but emotionally it could be horrible if I landed with a nasty tempered senior.

So that is how you got that name, I thought it was because you like to eat hostess cakes. Good jobs!

Bobby, what was it like working in security at the airport? Did you ask lots of questions to people? I know our security here in Israel at Ben Gurion airport is great. They ask the right questions.

I have been everything from an on-air DJ to a soldier to a quality monitor in a call center. Dishwasher and burger flipper too. And paperboy when I was a kid.

Oh man, you had to ask. I seriously thought I wanted to be a ballerina, no hope of that ever, no encouragement or lessons for me. I wanted to be a mom, and I am oh, and a wife. You never retire from that. I have worked as a bus driver, which I never would have imagined as in Driver's Ed I could not keep the standard transmission simulator running. I have had my own daycare, done mystery shopping, merchandising. I always swore I did not want to be a nurse, or a teacher, but most of my working career has involved one or both of those aspects. Sometimes combined.Like now. . . I work with special needs kids who have physical needs as well. If I were to retire, I would be broke and also at my sister's beck and call.

I would be broke in no time but I have lived before broke. I moved so I would not have to live in the car taking my sister and others everywhere.

Heather, it takes a special person to be able to work with special needs kids. My hat goes off to you.

I am too young to retire. But I had stopped working in a hospital. At present, I am working as a telecommuter and planning to work in an international NGO sooner or later.

I am currently out of work. Whatever earnings I manage to get come from my own book sales, sites I write for, and the publishing services I offer to authors. But this doesn't pay the bills though as the clients are not on a regular basis. Wish they were though.

I have worked in a variety of factories (making Levi's and cables for medical equipment were my longest) I've been a Dj on a small (at that time) Christian radio station. I worked in restaurants as a bus boy, dishwasher, waitress, short order cook and sous chef and for a catering company. I worked in gas station, as an EMT, at a dry cleaner. I also worked for Prudential Insurance and for the college in maintenance (how I paid tuition to go to school). A lot of these jobs were worked at the same time (before Mike and I married I was working 7 days a week at 3 different jobs. I'm glad those days are behind me). My favorite though is what I do now, mow yard and clean houses. I learned from all of my jobs and some I definitely loved more than others.

Dena, my parents owned a laundry/dry cleaners so that was my introduction to the work force. I worked there quite a number of years. I did not much like it. Don't get me work. I am a good hard worker so that taught me how to work hard in my life. There are times I over do it and then get worn out.

Yes, I do remember you from Bubblews! Some of my adult life, I worked at an assisted living home, it was a rewarding job! The relationships were unbelievably valuable, like an extension of my own family. Also, I worked as a teachers aid, with mentally challenged children. For about six years, I ran a Christian Daycare home, while my own kids were quite young. Today? I'm a grandma specialist! lol

Wow, I wanted to do something in Social Service but did not. I wanted to do something in criminology or be a paralegal, but, did neither of those things. I worked at regular jobs and about 11 years ago or more I took a course in computer graphics and after my last job closed working in a Thrift Shop I decided to go out and see what people thought of my work. My work was not great at that time so I expanded and I still make calendars and greeting cards, but, I also buy jewelry and toys and other things and sell on a table at a place but for the past years my clientele dwindled and got some new ones but do not make that much. I try and sell my calendars on facebook and do a blog about them and send to other places too but lately have not gotten much business so I had to find other ways to make money and I am on My Lot and Timebucks. I am self-employed and feel I may never be able to retire.

@andriaperry I had one husband and that was not good and do not want another. I just wish I could find something where we would feel secure enough and could retire. I do not know what I would do if I retired though so I will continue the way I am but look for more means financially for us so we will be fine the rest of our lives.
