Figs and Wasp

For days I have wanted to get out back and pick the figs because the birds and ants are having a good old time eating the fruit off the fig bush/ tree that I planted and have tended to for many years.
I asked Tony to help me, either go up in the tree or hold the ladder.
I went out to the garage to get the step ladder and I seen something fly away, then I felt it hit my hand, I got stung. I threw the ladder down and off flew the wasp nest, built right in the ladder! I took off running because I knew what was coming and I got hit again in the back of the leg as I ran for the house, for the back door.
I wiped the stinger out and applied cold water. Now to go pick the figs.
Tony took the spray with us and he sprayed the wasp he seen.
Out back I set up the ladder but picked all the figs I could from the ground and Tony went up to get the figs up high and what did he see? Another wasp nest on the back eave of the house.
After getting what was ripe Tony sprayed that nest.
Now I set with a lump on the back of my leg, hamstring, and a lump on the back of my hand and into my thumb. Oh well, I will take a benadryl before bed.
How was your day?

You poor thing! I am petrified of wasps or any type of bee. I would not have went back for round two... You are a brave soul. I hope you enjoyed the figs. I have a fig tree as well but the squirrels usually get to them first unfortunately.

I am sorry to hear that. The wasp sting sounds horrible. I hope you will get well soon. It is lucky that you have fresh figs. There are not figs here and all we have are the dried figs and we use them to make the soup. I am curious to know how the fresh figs taste like.

I had a nice day as one of my best friends came for tea. She was very happy with the gifts from Aruba. I love figs. It´s a pity that that included wasps. I hope you are not very allergic to them.

Well, I wasn't stung by any wasps today, so that's a good thing! I kept getting stung last summer when going out to check the mail since there was a nest under the mailbox (our rental company eventually sprayed it and that was the end of that, thankfully.) This summer there must be a nest somewhere in our shared yard area because every time I walk outside during the day I'm having to dodge wasps, but have no idea where they are coming from. Luckily I haven't been stung yet...knock wood.
As for the figs, sounds like you made out pretty good with your fig bush/tree. I haven't had figs in years. I miss having fruit trees in my yard. Heck, I just miss having a yard!

Look up to find the wasp nest, I am seeing more up high this year. About 3 years ago they were building nest in the grass, hanging of blades of grass!

I have the same phobia about wasps that I have with bees. But I didn't get stung today, so it was good.
