Where's the Cool Air

Yesterday we went to get freon in my car because the AC wasn't working well. We stopped at several places that you would think had freon. But no, they didn't carry it. One place we stopped had freon but said they didn't have the key to put it in my car. What that means I don't know. Another place we stopped would put it in for an outrageous price. We finally went to a small garage where my better half had gone to get tires sometime ago. And they had the freon and put it in for a reasonable price. It seemed all was well. The car cooled and we were on our way home. But the steering wheel was hard to turn. It was late and the garage was closing, so my better half drove my car back down there this morning. The mechanic looked under the hood and pulled a large rubber ring. I know nothing about cars but he showed us where it was worn almost through. He said we needed a new one before we could take the car out on the road. Long story short, a new ring was put in and the car now drives like a dream. Hopefully we wont have anymore car trouble this summer. I don't believe I spelled freon correctly.

I'm glad you got the car taken care of. You don't need to be without A/C in your car this time of year. I know here we are now in the hottest month of the year. I might even turn my A/C on in the apartment.

It's so much hotter in a car than outside, I can easily see how kids can die quickly in a hot car.

I'm glad to hear that you got everything fixed. It is no fun not having AC in the heat of the summer.

If for freon you mean an aerosol propellant, it is spelled correctly, did you need it for your A/C?

@RubyHawk Yes, it's correctly spelled, freon is a refrigerating gas.

@RubyHawk Freon will be outlawed by 2020, because it is high polluting. For the moment the professionals are still allowed to put it into the A/C for the cars, by 2020 it will be replaced with something different.

@LadyDuck It used to be sold in stores at a small expense. One could buy a can and put it in the car but now you can only buy it at car repair places and they put it in the car.

@Courtlynn Cars are too expensive to keep up and pay for insurance. But how do we get around without them?

I think you have freon right. However my spell check says it needs a capital, go figure. Hubby recharges our cars himself. He buys what he needs at WalMart. The freon cans come with a gauge and I am not sure what else. Enjoy the cool. It is much better you caught the problem with the car rather than to have it break on you.

It certainly is a big relief. We're lucky the steering wheel thing didn't break while we were on the road.

And this is one of the worst times to have car trouble especially with air, with how hot it's been, at least here it's been really hot. But it has tapered down just a little bit so that's nice. That and winter time because no one wants to get out in the cold to figure out what's going on with their car. If anything's going to happen I prefer it to be in Fall ha. You can bundle up in the winter really good and stay warm, but in the summer you can only bundle down so far! Ha :-)

That's true, but hopefully nothing will fall apart anytime soon. That should be enough trouble for awhile.
