Blow Drying Your Clothes

Have you ever tried blow drying your clothes before? I am sure this isn’t necessary because everyone owns a dryer. However, here on the islands I don’t own a dryer. So today I hung my clothes out on the line and the wind was blowing so hard it blew my clothes dry in record time. I love blow drying my clothes. It makes them smell so fresh and clean. Have you ever used your blow dryer to quickly dry some clothes? I have done this on a few occasions when I was in a hurry,. I had washed clothes and the sun hadn’t finished to dry them. I had to crab my hair dryer and help the drying process along.

I don't own a dryer either. I don't own a hair dryer either, but I used to. I remember once I had washed my daughter's gym uniform and it wasn't dry so we used her hair dryer to dry it so she could take it to school.

I love not owning a dryer. I much prefer the sun to dry my clothes. Yes in a pinch a hair dryer works if you have no other choice. I did one time put a towel over something that was damp and ironed it dry.

@poehere Oh goodness, this is very expensive. We pay a little bill for electricity, we pay more for the natural gas, especially in winter, because we have gas heating. It is the less polluting form of heating here.

@LadyDuck Where you live you need a good heating system. We use a propane tank on our stove and one on the hot water heater in our bathroom. The tanks normally last me 4 months. I think, I pay like 27 euro or less for my tanks every few months.

On the islands, not a lot of people own a dryer. It is not necessary and we have to buy a propane tank to use with the dryer. I think I did see an electric dryer in the stores not long ago. I wouldn't use this because of the price of electricity here on the islands. You would have a 500 dollar electric bill each month. Too much for me when the sun is for free.

Our town doesn't allow clotheslines. I've only used my dryer to dry a wet spot or two.

Oh, this is so sad. How can anyone not allow a clothes line in your backyard. I am not a fan of cloth dryers and I would much rather use our natural resources to dry my clothes. I think you should talk with your city council and complain. That is one reason we have so many problems with the environment. People are using too many resources when the sun is there for us.

@DianneN I can see your point. Where I live I don't have such issues. I haven't had a dryer in over 25 years so I couldn't say if towels are softer when dried in a dryer.

@poehere I had a clothesline in our former town. I never liked it. I can't stand stiff towels, bugs, or bird poop. I will not talk to our town. My hand washables go on a line in our basement or a rack.

It is a quick and simple solution when you're in a hurry. I have also used an iron and towel to dry some clothes. This one works great too. It is like steam pressing them.

Yes, I did it already@poehere. Blow drying my clothes is the fastest way to help me when I need a shirt right away. Otherwise, I have to get an electric fan and let it dry.

This is good to hear. Normally I have plenty of time to let the sun dry my clothes.

I only use the hair dryer to blow my clothes when I have a travel. Since the clothes may not be dry easily in the hotel. So blowing it with a hair dryer is easier.

I do this also from time to time. I am also, like you I never use it on my hair. However, on my female Bichon she gets cold after her bath. She loves me to blow dry her fur when I am done.

It does come in handy if you don't have a dryer. On the islands we don't have natural gas piped into our home. We use propane from tanks. A propane dryer isn't of much interest to us here. We always have the sun and have more than enough beautiful days to dry our clothes. However, one time I was running late and needed something and it wasn't dry. Grab the blow dryer and out the door I went.

I like the fresh smell that comes from drying your clothes outside. I have used a blow dryer once or twice to dry a small area on a shirt.

You still must have energy in your home. Otherwise you'd have no way of connecting on here unless you use a smart phone and the internet bill would be quite high.

I don't do that, I'd use an electric fan. That is what we do if monsoon comes and the sun won't shine for days.

I can see this. I too have had to find other ways to dry clothes when it seems to rain for days on end and you need to get some clothes washed.

I have no dryer. I have blow dried my clothes on occasion. When my cat was out in the rain I brought her in and blow dried her.
