Dear friends, Yesterday I received a call, the caller asked my hubby’s name, I replied, he is in office, then the caller asked ‘who are you, how I related to him (telling hubby’s name). I replied all of his queries. So the caller introduced me, he is from some loan department and wish to give some offers. Hearing their office name, I told, it is me took loan earlier why you want to talk to my hubby? The caller asked me, what is your name is, I said, Sreekala. The caller pronounced my name with very difficulty. I understood he can’t pronounce my name properly. He asked my hubby’s name, as it is mentioned along with my name. He just cut the first half of the name and asked the second half as it is easy to pronounce. I was surprised how a person calls on my mobile then asks hubby’s name? I never get any official calls for him in my mobile. Have you experienced any such funny incidents? Is it difficult to pronounce your name?

Yes, I have experienced calling my name in the wrong way. Germans can hardly pronounced "th" and so they called me Delma instead of Thelma.

@else34 Since I am from South I can observe the difference in pronunciation. Then there is much difference in words, same time similarities too. I think I can understand little bit more about the difference as I born and brought up in South then living long time in North.

There are really some names that other people find it hard to pronounce and even at our work place, we encounter some names being mispronounced and we found this thing funny. But personally, I haven't experienced my name to be mispronounced since my name is similar to a very popular actress in our country.
