Are you pessimistic or optimistic?

I've always heard there's two types of people in the world, pessimists and optimists. There are people who are so negative all the time they focus on the bad stuff, while the others look for the positive outcomes in life. I admit there are times when I can be pessimistic. If something happens, I immediately stress and worry about the worst case scenario. Then after I calm down my optimistic side kicks in. I know it's not going to do me any good to worry about the bad stuff and cause stress on my body, so I try to remain hopeful. I remind myself that God's looking after me and will help me through this situation. Even though times are tough, I think it's important for all of us to remain optimistic because things will eventually get better. Are you more of a pessimistic or optimistic person?

Realist is cool too. But being optimistic in your storms help withstand it

Like you, there are days, when I might be more pessimistic, but for the most part, I do try to be an optimist. I do prefer to see the positive and try to focus on that, as much as I can.

@dodo19 When there's bad days and I think everyone's first thought is to be pessimistic, but you have to focus more on the positive instead of the negative.

I wouldnt say I am a pessimist, but lately I have come closer to being so. I have always looked for the be prepared aspect of things, such as be prepared for the worst, but that is not pessimism to me..that is being a realist. However lately since all the worst has and seems to continue to happen, I am pessimistic.

@dramagirl26 Yes the world is very negative and there is nothing I can do to change that. I can however do something about my own happenings.

@TiarasOceanView With all the bad stuff happening in the world, it's easier to focus on the negative stuff.

I look at reality and what is staring me in the face at the time. Normally, I like to be optimistic and positive about life. Why be negative, you never get anywhere.

Everyone has both sides I think. Trying to be optimistic even when you're pessimistic does miracles. See the light in everything.

I'm neither. I'm a realist. I work and hope for the best but I prepare for the worst.

@AbbyGreenhill That's true. Most of the time people tend to be in the middle instead of just one side.

I'm definetely a glass half full person, but my husband is a realist. He says the glass just is what it is, no more, no less.

Just because you worry or stress about something doesn't make you pessimistic! As the Boy Scout motto says, "Be prepared." So, you're not being pessimistic about a situation, you're thinking of how things can go wrong, which then gets you thinking about how you can fix them or work through them. I'm generally an optimistic person.

I like to thin that I am mostly optimistic. I like looking at the good side of things. However, I do have a day every now and then where I feel like the harbinger of doom.

I would say neither. I am more of a realist. You forgot that category. I don't expect things will turn out badly, nor do I think they will turn out well. I expect they will turn out as they usually turn out. You have to work hard to get the outcome you want, thus I am a realist.

I also look at the worst case scenario when under pressure, but I rise to the occasion, face the reality, do what I can, accept the results, and then move on I am both, but strive to be optimistic - siva

Been optimistic or pessimistic is dependent the level of hope or promising factors available. In my opinion I am optimistic that things will be fine very soon
