Summer Drawing to a Close

I know, I know. You don't want to hear about the end of summer. The flowers are still in bloom, the heat is still on - outside that is. But let's face it. The kids are going back to school this month. For me that signals the beginning of Fall/Autumn. I've even seen a weather story about snow happening this early. I had to find out where that was, and it turned out it was in northern Alaska. Still, with snow already in the forecast, you know summer is about to come to an end.
It's the one season people look forward to most and the one season that seems to last the shortest amount of time. Soon you will be bringing out the light sweaters and hoodies, and then trade those for winter coats and mittens.
With the end of summer and the beginning of school the holidays are soon upon us. Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day, which also means a brand new year. So much happening all at once you feel dizzy just thinking about it all.
Right now the stores are displaying the Back to School items to get your kids ready for school. As soon as school starts all the holiday stuff comes out, if it hasn't already.
Another sign summer is coming to an end is the beginning of football season. Preseason is here, and next month the regular season will be under way and won't come to an end until February, by which time you will all be looking forward to spring and summer once again.
Have you done anything special this summer to make it memorable? Have you taken full advantage of summer's sun? What will you miss most about summer when the leaves start changing and the cooler days of Autumn are upon us?
Soon I will be seeing and hearing the geese flying south. That usually happens about this time of the month to late September. With as cool as we've had it in Wisconsin this year, that could happen very soon.
I hope you've had a good summer. Thanks for reading.
Picture mine from last year.

This summer things haven't been the greatest for us, but God has my full attention now. Maybe the rough patch was Him trying to get us to focus on Him.
We had one day that was really good, we spent it at the lake.
I'm looking forward to summer ending and Fall beginning. I don't enjoy the heat.

@AbbyGreenhill That's the earliest I've heard anyone going back to school in the US.

I'm glad you still have a lot of summer left. You start school early. Our football boys have been practicing for a few weeks already. They have their first game this week. There's a proud grandfather I swim with who has kids in a lot of school sports.

Schools here don't start til the first or second week of September, but it is getting close. And stores here already have Halloween candy and decorations out, they have for at least 3 weeks now. Also, we haven't had the warmest summer so have already been wearing sweaters here and there since June. Sadly.

Well yes, I went to my nephew's Eagle Scout ceremony. That was a pretty special event. I still hope to get to the outerbanks before the summer ends, but I better go fairly soon. I am going to be running out of time!

So far so good summer this has been since there have no major hurricanes hitting the Lake Charles area. Now that school season is near, the fun will begin once again for me since my nephew Is going to high school for his freshman year.

@Deepizzaguy I'm sorry to hear that. However, has he ever competed in Special Olympics? My older son had special needs as well and I remember going to the Special Olympics event held by his school. It was so much fun to watch all those kids do their best.

I enjoy summer and the warm weather, but the humidity I can deal without. I'm ready for fall to get here.

I have felt a hint of autumn in the air this past week or two.
The heat of the day doesn't last as long as it used to and the morning's coolness seems to linger and that evening coolness comes a little earlier. The dew on the grass in the mornings is heavy and it takes the sun a little longer to burn it off.
Our education system, from junior kindergarten right up to college and university start back the day after Labour Day here in our province. And we are into early fall by then, but early fall, even though technically Mother Nature doesn't call it that for a few weeks, is still quite lovely as far as weather is concerned.

I've felt the dew in the grass when I go to the pool in the morning. Early fall is a good way to describe it since everyone seems to be in the fall mode as soon as the kids go back to school. It's still nice, but cooler here too. I noticed this morning that it was 59 when I went to the pool this morning. It's been in the high 50's low 60's for the past week. Soon I won't be seeing 60 at all.

School started here last Thursday and in the neighboring counties tomorrow. this is done so that they can get the whole first semester done before Christmas break. It will be warm here til mid October. Disney doesn't like as they say school starting now cuts into their business.
