Sick & Tired of the Crap

With all of the lunacy in Charlottesville and around the country with taking down the monuments, now in Dallas, Texas, they want to change the names of several elementary schools because they were named after certain people. (Robert E Lee, John H Reagan, Albert Sidney Johnston).
History; good or bad, is still history and you don't 'erase' it. You learn from it. You don't pretend like it never happened and by removing these things, it's not going to make things go away.
And with folks like the KKK, Skin Heads, White Supremacists and all the others like them, we need to just send them to a deserted island; since they apparently don't want to be around anybody else.
It's either that or we need to rename this country from the United States of America to the Un-united States of America because that's what this country is coming down to.

I believe that people who have came here from another country think that they have more rights than we AMERICANS do. its pathetic.

@sarajordan993 Exactly. But you know what? If anybody has the right to protest it is the Native Americans. We (Europeans) stole their land and rounded them up like cattle.

I saw a meme on Facebook yesterday. It showed a photo of the Pyramids....asking, when we're we going to take down these symbols of slavery?
Political correctness aside.....if we don't learn from history we are doomed to repeat it. Erasing it. Makes it even more difficult to learn from.

Oh brother; can you picture the pyramids being taken down? Geez!! Let's remove the National Monument, the heads of the presidents in the mountains, the White House.......burn all the books......I just don't get it @Morleyhunt .

@Morleyhunt I think brain cell activity has diminished over the last 20 years. It must be the chemical foods we're eating.

@nanette64 I don't understand either. Yes bad things happened... They have been happening all through the history of man. Can't we just learn from our mistakes and move on? Why this mob mentality that destroys everything in its path.
Common decency.....respect for authority.....where did they go?

You are so right. Much as I find many past things distasteful that happened in everybody's country, you can't re-write history. It happened. We all abhorred the Soviets and many others for editing school history books etc to tell an untrue story so we shouldn't do it ourselves. Anyway we'll probably find ourselves out of favour with future generations I'm sure.

If we keep deleting history @Svidrigaylov then future generations will think we're just all so wonderful.

And it's one thing to 'protest' something; it's quite another to act like a bunch of idiots @TiarasOceanView .

We have been un-united for a long time. The one in charge is making it worse.

to erase the reason for the civil war and its outcome is to also say that the civil rights marches of martin luther king jr never happened. you cant discuss one without the other. its a cause and effect thing. this is why i have always been against censorship of any kind.

we live in the United States, where freedom of speech is allowed. BUT, its being taken too far, its getting out of hand. There are many groups (e.g. KKK, Skin heads, WS...etc) here in the US. They have the same rights as us, but they're the ones acting out with violence.
what ever happened to peaceful protesting? nobody can figure out how to come together, like mature human beings, & figure out their differences.
why change the names of schools, vandalize statues? because you don't like it? grow the hell up and get over it. its part of our history, you're not going to change the events that happened. its history, therefore its the past. move on!
this is all I'm going to say, its hard to hold back on my rants.
