I still remember my first contact with books. It started early. When I was still at primary school, I used to buy short stories, most of them were in French. It's there when the love of languages and writing begun. yet, My first contact with English isn't that old. It has been started only with my English College studies at the university, 6 years ago. I still remember one of the best books that I have ever read. It was Twilight by Stephenie Meyer. I watched the movie too, but the book was really amazing. So What is the Best Book you've ever read?

What are you asking here? In the title, you want to know what the best book was and in the last sentence what the first book was. Both questions show that you're still young. I certainly can't remember my first book and as to the best book: I studied English and Russian literature at uni and read all the time. I've read thousands of books in my life. It's impossible to answer this.

Sorry, it was just a mistake, thank you for noticing. Maybe it's difficult for you to answer because you have read many books. But, I think there might be memories associated with some special books, is this true?

@belmeros Yes and no. This may be true for a while but tastes change and I may find a new 'best' book.

Books by Ernest Hemingway and Stephen King are really great. I'm totally a fan of their work. However, my favorite book is from Antoine De Saint-Exupéry. The title is "The Little Prince." I think it's the best book I've read so far. If you haven't read it, give it a try. It's really nice.

I read a series called "A Child Called It". It's very sad but also inspirational. =) So far no book or series has topped this series for me.

@belmeros the first proper book I read outside of school was Crime and Punishment when I was 17 and I have read many since. It is my favourite, the I became distracted with French literature for quite a while and French African books too.

@xFiacre That's great my friend. I tried some French novels 5 years ago, but I stopped reading in French ( because of studies). However, the French have their own special style though.

The best and the only book was Wind in the willows. I had bought it at a book fair for USD $1.50 back in 1990s. Still having it but torn pages

Gone With the Wind
To Kill a Mocking Bird was my favourite during my school days. But I have read so many good novels during my college days. It's hard to pick one but I liked 'Gone With the Wind'. It took me 3 or 4 days to finish the thick novel. It was worth it.

I and my classmates read Gone with the Wind secretly under our desks during lessons. It was a kind of sport not to be caught.

I think the name was Mirror Image, it was a woman with a mistaken identity after a plane crash.
