CALLING DEATH?

Are you scared to make a will?. Some people feel they will be 'calling death' on themselves when they do so. I have heard about so many people from middle class to the rich and famous who passed on without leaving a will. Resulting in siblings and other family members enduring court battles trying to decide who gets what. Are you afraid of making your will ? And what are some of the other reasons why people do not make wills?

My father hesitated to do that. He was unwilling. I am the only heir, and even so, I asked for it so that cousins don't land on me to ensure that everything is not spent away or given randomly. Relatives told him that she will kill you once you write it. Almost six years since he executed the will. He is fine! And happy too. lol

@Kandae11 .. In this case, I established the properties on his name. They are rightfully mine. Relatives want those. lol

I saw many movies and read many novels about murder occurring after the will is made. A greedy and impatient family member might not want to wait for the testator or testatrix to die naturally.

@vandana7 They are indeed yours, but if no will was left, you would experience big problems with the relatives.

At this age with having two kids anything I had would be left to my kids and my parents I guess to decide who gets what and to take care of my kids. I do not think I need a will get and don't like thinking how if something happens to me my kids will be orphans.

@Kandae11 That's true! I think since my kids only have one parent left it makes me worry more then other parents might.

A will would spell out your wishes that your parents would take care of your children. I've known where other family members petition the courts for custody just to get whatever money was there.

I don't think any caring parent would like the idea of leaving their kids.

Our will have been made a long time ago.Along with the living will.No plugs.Unplug. Why should they be afraid?we all die when our time is up.We cannot live forever. We are all set and have our lawyers taking care of this.

Actually, people are scared. Once they write the will, the heir might get impatient and try to kill them.

Have made out two wills, one early in our marriage, and one more recently. Also have a living will and trust funds.

We have made wills. If we don't (in Australia) the government takes over and makes sure it gets a substantial amount.

It can be that way here in the US also. Why give the government part of what you want your family to have?

That's ridiculous. But yes I know many people who have not made a will and I keep telling them that they are making life so difficult for those still alive! One of the biggest difficulties though is finding witnesses to sign. Of course if you go to a solicitor then they can ask some staff member to be a witness, but otherwise it is hard to find anyone since a family member cannot be the witness, neither can anyone named in the will, and strangers are wary of signing anything!

I only have one child and she will get whatever I have left. I am not sure why, but I haven't put it in writing as of yet. It wouldn't take long to do and would be so quick and simple to make. Might need to do this soon.

We like to believe our children will divide everything equally, but what about future mates or people who may be greedy, unlike your kids? It's always better to have things spelled out in a will.

@Kandae11 Yes. I'm not even promising anything. Let them choose what they need when the time comes. We found out that many items we had hoped for earlier were not fitting into today's lifestyle.
