Chips Ahoy! (Not those cookies though)

I was back at the store again, sandwich bread this time, but had to stop and marvel at the chip aisle. If I bought one pack of each kind of chips on the shelf today, it would cost a fortune and I would gain a bunch of weight! So many varieties of potato chips, not to mention corn chips or blue corn chips with various flavors, and sweet potato chips. Then there are all those cheesy chips, black bean chips, kale chips too. Just to make a list of all the chips offered would probably take a half-hour of walking down that display. But that would lead to temptation I might not resist, so I paid for my sandwich bread and hurried out the door. I have some great corn chips to have with my sandwich. Do you have a favorite kind of chip or do you avoid chips altogether?

At one time I was hooked on potato chips, but not anymore. I haven't eaten any kind of chips for the past thirteen years.

@Kandae11 I snack on roasted unsalted walnuts, almonds, pecans and hazelnuts a lot every day. What is your favorite?

@JamesHxstatic .....Yes, it is. One woman I met in the hospital had nearly gone into a seizure from drinking too much water. Her sodium level got dangerously low.

To us, these are not really food products and we have to wonder why they are even snacks. Not do some seem addicted to snacks these days, some spend a great deal of money on such things. It is an aisle we want to avoid here!

@PatAnthony I agree that these are pseudo food. Like tater tots: how are they really food?? Children love them and children are growing. Not a good combo.

I only buy some good corn chips, and rarely eat potato chips. All these snack "foods" and sugary drinks are causing the obesity problem in the US.

@JamesHxstatic they are the best. The dill pickles ones having a creamy coating similar to sour cream and onion topping but of course with a dull pickle flavour.

Unfortunately, I love chips and have to limit myself. Probably my favorite all time is plain baked potato chips, although I used to love corn chips, I can only eat the organic ones any more because I am "allergic" to the others. I like just about any kind of chip, though!

I see that Lays makes 147 varieties of potato chips alone. There is even a "Southern Biscuits and Gravy" chip. That sounds awful!

That's a lot of chips! I do mostly avoid snacks like that, but every once in a while, I enjoy a handful of chips. I like Doritos. The taco flavor.

@JamesHxstatic Ha, that's for sure. I wouldn't mind munching away, but I have to have a limit, especially with snacks or sweets.

@JamesHxstatic And I bet they will keep inventing new flavors that keep getting weirder and stranger... Just like Doritos, the latest one I saw down here was their After Dark line with flavors like: Southern Fried Chicken, Tacos at Midnight, or Last Call Kebab...

I never buy chips but if we're at a party and chips are on offer, I don't limit myself. Corn chips seem to stick in my throat for some reason but Pringles are good.
