Dizzy Blonde

It's certainly not what I need right now, but I have vertigo.
I feel dizzy when I walk.
I walk as if I've had a few too many glasses of wine.
I've had it before, and am grateful it isn't as bad.
Time should help.
My husband made me rest in bed all day, where I read and slept. I feel a tiny bit better, thank goodness.
He better stop calling me a dizzy blonde, or else!

Oh dear that is so unpleasant Dianne!
Did you know there is a treatment called the Epily Manuevre?
You can do it on yourself if you know how or have someone that knows how do it for you.
It is just a matter of balancing the crystals in the ear to get rid of the vertigo.
This is just an example of it
My Mother has it bad and her chiro always does it for her and then she is right as rain, though it can pass on its own too.
Use this video to guide you through the epley maneuver at home! This is a great technique to use for benign paroxysmal positional vertigo. Check with your ph...

I know a few people who are having bouts of vertigo right now, and none of them know what's causing it. I wonder what's going on!

Sorry to hear that! Glad you are feeling a bit better. Do you have any idea what brings it on or what might be the cause?

@DianneN I had a friend who suffered from vertigo for a couple of years and it was awful. He visited many doctors for help and finally a Chinese herbalist gave him some special herbal tea and he recovered and doesn't have that problem anymore. I was just curious if something or other triggers that condition.

@DianneN Could it be postural vertigo which one gets because of dryness in the ears?

@allknowing I don't think so. I had a doctor check me out the last time I had it.

I get pretty bad vertigo about 1-2 times per year, usually tied to my seasonal allergies. If I start taking medicine right away, I can usually stop or slow it down before it gets too bad. On those rare occasions where I get really bad vertigo, I become a complete wreck, and have trouble even doing the basic functions of life.

@DianneN I take Phenergan (promethazine), which works very well, but it knocks me out cold. You think Benadryl makes you sleepy? Try taking Phenergan! When I get vertigo and take the medicine, I have to stay home from work, because it knocks me out cold.

I had an instance of vertigo several years ago just as I was getting off work. It was horrible and don't what caused it. The world was spinning.

What caused your vertigo? I also had that before.
The doctor said it could be I had an imbalance caused by my frequent cleaning of my inner ears and the one that give us balance was touched . So, I don't use the small spoonlike thing when I get the wax out of my ears anymore. I just use a cotton bud but made sure that It doesn't reach my inner ears.
I haven't experienced it since then.
I hope yours is gone too already.
Very nice picture! Your granddaughter is so happy!

I can imagine you would have a hard time walking. I've had vertigo a few times in my life, but not in many years. The last time I had it, it lasted three days. My husband was out of town and it was just me and the three kids, and it wasn't easy. I spent most of the time in bed, and even that was scary because it felt like I was hanging head down all the time.

I have had a few bouts of what I think is vertigo as well, I have also experienced what they call nystagmus, which is uncontrolled eye movements, mine go side to side. I haven't been to a doctor yet but soon. Hope you are feeling better soon.

@fishtiger58 My doctors told me there was really nothing much to do for me. I really know nothing about nystagmus. Let me know what the doctors say. You can PM me if you'd like.

@DianneN I only get the nystagmus when I'm feeling dizzy. I have had the vertigo like maybe 4 times in the last year lasting from 1 to 3 days and I would say from mild to bad when I am off balance. The first time the nystagmus happened I thought it was vertigo but it sure isn't. Going to make an appointment with doc after the Labor Day holiday. But I thought I read there is not much they can do about vertigo. The nystagmus worries me though.
