Fancy a pig for a pet?

My last post was about the musical section of the Parc Floral de la Court d’Aron in France. Within the grounds was a ‘farm’ which consisted of a number of pens of more or less typical farmyard animals. The goats and pigs were miniatures and were very cute.
Pigs always smell and these dwarf specimens were no exception. I’m not an expert on the various dwarf pig breeds but these might be Vietnamese pot-bellied pigs.
Whatever they were they were a bit different. If they were cars you might say they had very low clearance as their bellies were almost scraping the ground.
Do you fancy a pot-bellied pig as a pet?

They say pigs are very smart, by the way I was born in the year of the pig in the Chinese lunar calendar, as a pet think I will think it over because it's a big responsibility.
Scientists at Emory University in Atlanta are hoping the results will make people think differently about animals that are traditionally seen as meat.

@JudyEv good they sort of got to breed a mini version, next thing they should do is breed one that is less smelly so I could let it roam around the house or sleep on a bed like a dog

@marguicha When I say I love rabbits, Vince always says 'especially with bacon'.

@judyev our neighbours used to have free-range pigs, enormous brutes they were and they were treated as pets but bred for the table. On our first afternoon living next door to them a huge sow pushed the front door open and shambled through the living room and out the back door followed by 13 squeaking piglets without so much as a by your leave.

They were very fashionable a while ago. Even George Clooney had a pet pig!

I wouldn't either - certainly not inside, maybe in a comfy pen a bit away from the house.

Wouldn't be my choice even though I heard they are smarter than dogs and their biology is close to that of humans.

@teamfreak16 I don't know this show. I used to love the 'All Creatures Great and Small' series but that was British.

@JudyEv - Have you ever seen the old American TV show, Green Acres? Arnold the Pig was like the smartest side character on the show!

@JudyEv No, I've never imagined myself owning a pig, for a pet. But, a sheep? Yes, I'd love to own a sheep!:) I've heard that pigs are extremely intelligent, though!

@kobesbuddy Sheep make lovely pets. Little lambs will follow you all day just like they would their mothers.

Sorry but no.
I used to have to look after a pig as part of my pocket money deal and she was awfully bad tempered and very smart too.
No is no.

Right on.
She was about six years old and she could not half bite.
I got away from her she was not a nice animal to look after at all.
No is still no.

Every pet requires attention - and food - and all the rest of the stuff. I hope you stand firm!

I have always wanted a pot belly pig for a pet. They are adorable. Growing up we had a regular pig first a pet. He was huge.
