Wish Us Luck Here In Florida

The last report we saw here about the path of Irma looks like they feel it may be going right up the middle of Florida and from Florida through Georgia and onto to the Carolinas.
Irma seems to be a category 4 hurricane at this time. Hopefully after it hits land the winds will slow down enough for it to be a category 3.
We have prepared for this storm the best we can and will stay in our home. Our area has voluntary evacuation for people living in mobile homes, campers, and such. There is talk about making it mandatory.
I am hoping and praying that everyone who will be affected by this storm gets through it safe and sound and the damage is minimal.

@HazySue If the winds are 75 there, you should be good with your house Susan.

@TiarasOceanView That's what we thought. Here's hoping Irma doesn't decide to little to the west or we will be in the middle of her path.

Best of luck. Hope it isn't too damaging when it blows through. Be safe.

Yeah, we will be staying too unless it's made mandatory. We're in a no evacuation zone though so we should be pretty safe where we are.
Praying for everyone!

I don't care where in FL anyone lies, I would leave mandatory or not. That's why we don't live along either coast.

@HazySue I was lucky and didn't sustain any damage to my house at all. I didn't lose any trees, nor did I even lose power. I got lucky. So many of my friends and co-workers didn't fare so well thought. I feel bad. We have one employee at work that still doesn't have power at her house, and it's been almost two weeks since the storm hit.

@moffittjc You were lucky. We were without power for several days. It was a relief to get it back. My heart goes out to those still without power.

What do the different categories mean? I really truly hope you will be out of the way of Irma and will be safe and that she does not head your way. Just looking at the picture makes me scared. I can imagine what it feels like in real life with that thing coming.
