Smoking and Snoring

We just returned from breakfast with friends. As we left the restaurant, my hubby and I had to walk through a cloud of stinky secondhand smoke. A man in his late 50's was puffing and coughing as he took long drags on his disgusting cigarette, no doubt hurrying to return to his family and meal.
I'm sure the stench of his cigarette followed him inside, clinging to his sweater and hair, nevermind fingers. He can apply all the cologne in the world, can brush his teeth until they fall out, and gargle until his mouth explodes, but nothing would make him clean enough for me!
I'm so happy my husband doesn't smoke. Nor does he snore, thank my lucky stars. I wonder if the two are connected?
What are your thoughts?

They say that some snoring can be caused by sleep apnea which could be caused by smoking in some cases so they say Dianne.
Oh yes, I have neighbors that smoke like chimneys downstairs..omg..it really does stink.

@TiarasOceanView, those chained smokers surely get sick of cancer. They do not love and listen to their body.

I cannot stand to be around people who smoke. It is such a nasty habit. And, like you said, they stink to high heaven. I gag anytime I walk near someone who is smoking. It just makes me want to vomit.
I'm glad you don't smoke. We couldn't be friends otherwise! haha

@DianneN The image of you holding your breath and running through the smoke made me laugh! When I face those situations, I do the same thing, but I make sure to loudly let everyone around me know how disgusting those people are.

@moffittjc To be honest, I do brush aside the smoke with the hand that isn't pinching my nose. If they look closely, they just may see my upper lip curled in distaste.HAHA

Smoking is a bad habit and in the 70's when I was growing up in California it seemed so many of my friends at school smoked. I had too many allergies and asthma to even try it. I guess once you're hooked, it is hard to stop. I don't like the dirty ashtrays and the smell it leaves behind. BTW my boyfriend doesn't smoke, but he snores. Don't think they are related at all.

@kobesbuddy I have read that too. However, he has asthma and at times it affects his breathing when he sleeps.

It is a very bad habit and very difficult to quit. I started smoking in college and tried to quit so many times. I promised my dad I would quit when he was dying from lung cancer as had his sister. I didn't say when, but quit I did! In some cases, smoking and snoring are related, but definitely not all. It must depend on the individual.

No they aren't.. as far as I know, because I know many who do one but not the other.
I hate smokers.

@Courtlynn Nothing can cover that stinky smell up either. If my husband snored, I'd shove a pillow over his face, too.

@DianneN Yes, please! My dad quit when I was a kid because I had asthma (but not anymore). Yay!

I can't stand the smell of smoke either, Dianne. And I know it leads to terrible health problems for the smoker and those who inhale second hand smoke! I am sure it aggravates snoring too. You're really lucky your hubby doesn't smoke or snore. xoxox

Smoking is an absolutely disgusting filthy habit. Can't stand it or the stench of it.
That being said, I do snore apparently wickedly according to my husband due to my sleep apnea. Luckily I have a CPAP machine now so I'm silent when I sleep as long as I'm using it.

When I had my heart attack the doctor asked me if I was a smoker. When I told him that I have never smoked he said that they don't hear that too often.

@Happy2BeMe Genes are one thing, but can't you take a stress management course? Perhaps I can go with you!

@DianneN yes that is true. I've read so much on it but stress and genes are the biggest contributors and I have both of those things.

Smoking is a scary habit. Happy I never picked it up. I do snore though, so I can't say that 2 are related. Good theory though, maybe there are more snorers within the smoking population

I hate walking through the path of smoke. Many of the grocery stores I go to I find myself gagging as I head toward the door. The employees light up as soon as they hit the outside of the door. Grosses me out. I don't smoke and shouldn't have to inhale another person's bad habit.

@DianneN They are supposed to walk to the shelter and smoke. Many shoppers do the same thing. Can't wait to get outside to light up.

Talking about smell sticking to clothes, my niece who took me to eat at a place in Colorado mentioned that to me about clothes smelling from food after talking out there. Whether it was just that place or all places I wondered.

I also abhor the smell of a man who smokes. Specially when he speaks, you can smell his awful breath, I don't wanna breath,
Good thing also my husband doesn't smoke, but he snores sometimes when he is tired or when he drank with his friends. But I snore louder, he said.
