I Love This Scam

I get so many scam phone calls a day that it's ridiculous but yesterday was my favorite. The Department of Treasury. The 'foreigner' tries to pronounce my name and in the background I can hear multiple people in the 'call room'. I said, "What do you want!" He said, "I'm with the Department of Treasury and we have a warrant for your arrest for governmental fraud." I said, "I'm at home (which was obvious), so they can come and get me." He said, "Well, there is a resolution to this situation." I said, "And that is?" He said, "All you have to do is send us a bank transfer in the amount of $3,128.00." I said, "You can kiss my a** and arrest me." (He hung up). I just love these scams.

I got one of those one time. They even had the same bit about 'governmental fraud.' But for some reason he couldn't tell me anything about the so-called governmental fraud. And when I tried to tell him that I'm running for a local public office, and once I'm elected his warrant will be useless because then it's legal fraud, he cursed at me and hung up. I guess he wasn't interested in the kickbacks I was going to promise him for helping promote my campaign by phone...

@nanette64 It seems so obvious, doesn't it? I've debated turning some of those calls into performance art pieces. Call goes normally, then a sudden shriek, dropping the phone, someone else picks it up and breathes heavily into the receiver... I may have too much time on my hands and too many creative writing workshops under my belt.

Has anyone turned up to arrest you yet, or are they still too busy telephoning new targets?

I wonder if they have managed to catch anyone yet, who would actually fall for a scam as foolish as that one.

I have a friend who likes to answer those calls just so she can get them thinking she's gonna fall for it, and then saying something like you did. But I use caller i.d. and just never pick up the calls. We get so many calls every day that we don't want.

LOL What a scam! I had an e-mail supposedly from a RICH KING of a foreign country, with a proposal for marriage! Those men treat women like dogs, why would any woman fall for this one? Plus, if she didn't obey, that KING would have his wife beheaded! Can you imagine me falling for that scam?

The weird thing was is that I had to call the SS office yesterday and even though that is an 800 number, when they call you back, it's a 202 number (New York # I guess). So when the call rang and I saw the 202 number, I thought it was them calling me back for some reason @thislittlepennyearns .

In my country there are a lot of scammers ranging from the ones who call and say they are from a mobile money company to the ones who call to say they work in banks and your accounts have been blocked n you are needed to pay a certain amount of money for them to be corrected

So few moments later there's helicopters landing and a group coming through the door full of police officers lol jk. I have always wanted to do that. Here though it's a bit different though. These people who want to be like mafia or anything of the like would call us (not knowing our names) telling us (I think they get our info through credit card we slide or something with emails lol, I don't know) "we have a relative friends (stating their name) of yours tied up, if you want to see them you have to send us $5,000 or else they'll get what's coming." I don't know what my dad does to reveal them making them hang up. This happened multiple times and if I happened to answer these guys, I would wait to see who they say "they got", tell my mom softly to call that person, if they answer saying they're at home or work or whatever but they're fine, I'll pretend like I'm scared and panicing going "what, no MOM COME HERE QUICK.." sarcastically and say "oh kill them" Lol...Of course call them first that they're ok. lol

How stupid do they think we are. I am so glad they don't have this where I live. I would have to laugh so hard if they tried to call me.

That was a hilarious way to respond to that call Totally justified too, I have no sympathy for people that have the audacity to rip other people off like that.
