She Got Scammed So Badly...

She got scammed so badly, a very sweet "mute and and hard of hearing" lady got taken for thousands of Rands (South Africa's currency) . She met an of course, American in the US Army, on facebook. He of course had money owed to him and she needed to send money for him to get a box that had all the money owed to him. Then he would come to South Africa because he loved her so much and they would live happily ever after. Now, we all know this was NOT an American, this was a scammer somewhere else in the world. This sweet lady is as I said, mute, so I wrote out questions and she could at least answer in writing, this took 3 hours. We got the police out and now we shall see what can be done. Please, lonely ladies and men out there, don't look for love on Facebook, in fact try to remember that finding love online is a very dodgy situation and could leave your bank account empty along with your heart. Photo is of one of the flowers gracing my home with their beauty and to add a bit of cheer to this very sad situation.

@bluesa Do not worry for a late answer, we all have busy days. I got the cold from my husband, watery eyes, running nose, a bit tired. Nothing serious but annoying.

Yes, Anna, I can't understand it either. And to then still be mute and taken such advantage of is just terrible. Sorry for answering so late, I have been having a crazy day. I hope all is well with you.

it seems that texting and the internet has made it more tempting and easier to deceive people now.

@bluesa it makes you wonder if people have become more materialistic because we get glimpses into anyone's and everyone's lives so it reinforces keeping up with the jones's and any action or behavior that would make them hesitate before, or never even cross their minds, now, it's nothing because you also see a lot of people posting about cheat sheets and how to get away with something. the internet is a double-edged sword.

@hereandthere it does make a person wonder. There are those that would do anything to have a certain life style and the internet is an easy source to find targets to help them do so. Yes, I agree, it is a double-edged sword.

We shouldn't look for love on Facebook? Damn, I've been doing it wrong all this time. How about Tinder, is that app okay? Lol Seriously, sorry to hear she fell for such a scam. Sadly, millions from around the world fall for these things every day. People put way too much trust and faith in their fellow man. That's why these crooks are able to scam so many people so easily.

No, we shouldn't! It is dangerous and there are nasty mean people out there! I am so sorry you've been doing it wrong all this time, truly...I hope I have now saved your heart! Tinder? I wouldn't know...if you're feeling adventurous you could try....Lol! But yeah, I am also so sorry she fell for this, I wish people would realise that finding love online is very risky.

How terribly sad for this woman. Most of us are aware of these scams, but it never fails to amaze me how so many are duped, and all in the name of "love"! I hope the police can track this scammer down.

It does make a person mad, that there are those that would stoop so low. I also have a feeling that nothing much is going to be able to be done about this.
