“Life is hard and unfair. It is cruel and heartless, painful, trying, disappointing, unapologetic, and frequently downright awful." Richelle E. Goodrich
He tried and tried, and still trying.
My older brother had been applying for promotion for quite sometime now.
He had all the requirements that is needed but still...
My other brother said, too much applicants, but the "quota" is small, we truly understand that.
But when another promotion was announced, with "seniority" was said to be up for promotion, we put our hopes on high.
Still...
We have seen who has been promoted thru facebook posts, we might sound bitter but, we thought of life's not fair.
Promotion was given to those "politicians' guards". Despite any exposure with their "real job", they seem to get the promotion that easy. While my brother on the other hand, hadn't get the one he has been eyeing for?
Well, despite the "bitterness", we keep on praying that he will get it, though we pray more for his safety.
Sigh.
Maybe something better is coming on his way.

Don't worry roo much about his promotion, there are those in higher ranks but have no station to handle. Besides, time will come for him to be promoted because as far as I know before the lower years to be promoted, the more senior first to be promoted.
Or am I barking at the wrong tree?

I know the feeling, these days if you have someone who is very known or what we call "kapit sa taas" we can never get any, but if we do, that pa sipsip or obsequious boss, we can find our way to the top.
It happens here as well. I hope your Brother deserve what's for him.

i believe it is the "whom you know, not what you know" policy , and nepotism, that are the main requirements in landing a government position now. this is my own opinion.
my 3rd brother is past 60 years old and he has been waiting for a decade for the promotion. he got that last month. and the cruelty is the uniforms allowance will still be next year.
my brother is dedicated in his work. the previous 2 administrations were not showing support for that agency and even forcefully removed or reduced the personnel. my brother was retained because he works with dignity.

It is indeed disappointing if someone who is close to higher ups in the government gets the perks like promotions; it should be based on qualifications and not political patronage!

@acelawrites ,it does not happen in private offices, they base on the applicants' qualification not by whom you know.

I feel you, Reine and I understand the feeling of your brother. I also experienced that in my previous company last 2008 and instead of staying in the company that I serve for the past 6 years, I kept things in my principles and decided to leave the company. I know that time that I am capable working almost 7 days a week and almost 24 hours a day monitoring shipments and answering clients concerns and issues. However, I believe in the "PERFECT TIMING" if that opportunity is for your brother then it will happen but if not, GOD has other plans for him.

So much is dependent on politics, but I hope that just the right position comes open for your brother and he gets a promotion that lets him feel the recognition of his loyalty and skill.

When things don't go our way, we are disappointed. No use being sad and bitter about it. We can look at all the good things we have and just keep on going. Let's hope that things will work out on some future day!

I met a guy who waited for his dream job for 3 years. While waiting, he worked as a volunteer there, no pay. The day there was an official vacancy, that workplace gave the job to someone whom they just met for a few hours. All the best to your brother.

Keep encouraging him God's time is the best and when that time reaches he will be shocked to get double or tripple of what he expected. Never give up. Face each day with confidence and high expectations. Pray without ceasing. May God richly bless you.
