Colorful handbells

Well, you know I'm trying to get more color in my diet, but I also like to use color with the little ones in music class. We are learning the note names, steps and skips by using colored bells. Red, yellow, orange, green, light blue, dark blue and purple are C, D, E, F, G, A, B. Do you remember how you learned note reading? Or do you know how to read music?

My daughter majored in music and promised to teach me how to read music. That never happened. I would still like to learn though.

My first recollection of music is with a small xolophone that my parents gave me for xmas when I was very young.

Self taught from books and the internet! Probably not the fastest or easiest way to learn but I got there in the end!

@petatonicsca I'm not fast enough to sight read a new piece of music while playing yet. I can read well enough to learn a new piece from scratch if I get time to practice but I tend to break it down into smaller parts so it's easier. I'm quite envious of the true musicians who can walk in and play a piece instantly when they are handed a sheet of music.
