Do you eat while cooking?

September 30, 2017 5:43pm CST
The most renowned cooks in the world often say that eating while cooking is always more enjoyable. The result of this are dishes made with more care and more flavor. What do you think about that?

I know how to eat but not how to cook. This sounds a bit odd as I am 29 and I am still struggling to learn cooking. I used to go by the excuse that life never gave me the opportunity to learn cooking but the truth is that I never showed the willingness to learn. Now, I want to learn as I want to cook my own food with time. When I have learned and start cooking for myself, I hope I still remember to come back again here to comment whether I eat when I cook or not

Yes, I eat little when I cook to know how it tastes, to know if the spices and salt are enough. Without tasting it we can't know if it tastes good or bad.

If we don't eat during cooking a dish, how would we know what is lacking in it?

I enjoy eating when I am cooking on a regular basis. This helps me to get the right flavor. But when I am cooking for some religious rituals or some elderly in the house, I have to refrain from doing so. It is taken as a disrespect in our culture.

I'm sure true cooks are notorious for doing this. I sometimes check a dish for enough salt, but don't actually eat until it's done cooking and on the table.

Yes, I agree. It's also a way of tasting what you're cooking. If the taste is already good or you have to add some necessary ingredients to make it tastier. It also shows that you love what you're doing.
