Do you break this Italian pasta rule? #1

Do you cook your long-stranded pasta whole in the pot as-is or do you break it? Nonnas from the Old Country would be turning over in their graves if they knew that you broke your spaghetti or linguine in half before tossing it in the pot. . . or, even worse, CUT IT UP WITH A KNIFE before you eat it! Me? I break it in half before tossing it into the pot despite being raised by an Italian grandmother and in an Italian-American household. Sorry, but I don't want to be slurping up super-long strands of pasta. It is unladylike and I've never mastered the art of twirling the strands around my fork, even using a spoon to help. Believe me, I've tried! Hey, at least I don't use a fork and cut it up like I'm a 4 year old child. How do YOU eat your long-stranded pasta?

Haha I didnt know there was a rule. Sometimes the spaghetti is longer than my pots so I am sure Ive broken them in half too. How did your meal turn out?

I usually use a combo of cut and twirl methods. I am sure I do my fair share of slurping too lol.

I break it in half before dumping it in a pot of boiling water. I have even at times..gasp!...broken linguini into four parts when I'm making Crab Alfredo for the boys.

Sometimes I break it so I can use a smaller pot

Cut and twirl is what I do. Plus, I also use a spoon to help me twirl the pasta in my fork.

Break it in half for the pot or crockpot. I do twirl them with a fork.

I break ours in half, then into the boiling water. When it's done, we chop it into smaller pieces on our plates.
