This may sound very silly...I am 58..
Long ago, I had filed in my application with this website, and I quite forgot about it.
Then today, I get a call...after what 12 odd years!
My situation has changed considerably since then. No..I didn't get too rich. I just have more responsibilities.
But ..just for old time's sake, should I join this company for a brief period?
Or ignore the offer.
What would you do in my situation.

If it is something that you would enjoy doing and that would enhance your life, I would certainly do it. For them to contact you after a dozen years is so unusual that perhaps it's something you're meant to do.

@vandana7 Age used to be considered an asset. In my country, the USA, it was respected until about 30 years ago. Now, I apply for jobs and get rejected only to see a young person there texting on their phone rather than doing their job.
Don't discount that they may value you for your age! You are in India, a country that I think values experience. Maybe they need your age right now?

@dragon54u I called them up, the lady said age is not an issue, and well, she said she needs to think over. They have got a new project and they have not yet measured up the work content. She is to call me today or tomorrow and I would have to meet her in person. She is contemplating offloading the job to a freelancer rather than employing somebody whole time.

@vandana7 You don`t want to give it a try? It may have been long time but the system you used to do still fresh in your mind and can still apply it and in time you get to learn new things too. It`s like you`re starting again after you had your schooling finished because I believe that after school you still don`t know how was it on actual work place. Right? So, When you start to work there you get to learn all new things more than you`ve ever learned from school and starts to study more as you want to do good with your work

@m_audrey6788 .. Yes, that is very sound advise. I did call her. For starters, she had no clue about the going rates out here, nor the job description. She was just looking at a content writer to fill in the shoes of the one in the UK who had suddenly left, offering 1/3rd of the pay. But as things stand, for the scale she is offering, she can get a spring chicken who would give her almost 4000 words per day, she might need just 500 to 1000 per day, sometimes slightly more. So she did realize she is offering much high pay and may be going the freelancer way in India might suit her. That suits me too..lol. She said she will contact me by this evening and then may be we can meet up tomorrow and I could go through some tests and then see how things go from there. She has to convince her boss about the situation.

Very very strange. lol. I spoke to the lady and told her my age and lack of confidence. She said she has no issues about the age. But would rather offer me a freelancer's position if she can convince her boss that this job should go as freelancer job.

I'd say no @vandana7 . Unless it's really something you would 'want' to do.

@AuthorYogi .. I hardly talk about my kids. I let others do it. But I will if you are ok with me discussing you, in your absence, now that you have told me. Evil Grin.

The eastern logic. If the Japanese say it, I shall give it a try...I have this soft spot for Japanese (don't tell anybody - but I would cross Pacific if I had monies, to see Japan, not interested in the US)..I have seen your calendars when I was young...always thought Japan was so beautiful. :)
