First snow of the season

It started snowing Sunday evening and snowed all night long and through the day Monday until around 1 o'clock. In colder weather, we would have had several inches piled up but it was wet, heavy snow that melted quickly. It was beautiful to watch, though!
Last night was a real freeze at 24 degrees F. Today, it's in the 60s, sunny and bright. Now that everything has frozen or broken, we will probably have an long "Indian summer' while we wait and wait for real winter to hit.
I hope so, anyway. I love snow and cold weather, but it's just too early!

I am not anxious for the first snowfall. Hoping it doesn't snow here for a long time yet.

We never get snow, before the end of October or first part of November. Still, I love our first snow!

I love the snow--but this does seem early--we are still warm--77 today--but the nights are cooling down thankfully

@toniganzon It just depends on where one is. The US is a big country that covers a lot of different weather. North of here, they had snow before we did and they usually do. I was raised in Wyoming where it can snow any time. I saw snow in July there once. Not normal, but it happened!

@peavey And I thought it usually snows only in December so I really thought it was way too early. I haven't heard of snow in halloween! But snow in Christmas...often.

@just4him If I were going out I would check the weather, too. The problem with this country is that it can be cold in the morning, like right now at 10 AM it's 30 degrees. This afternoon, it's supposed to get into the low 50s, and if the sun shines, it will feel like 70! So if one is going to be out all day or through the middle of the day, what to wear can be a problem.

@peavey That's why I always look at the weather channel in the morning before going to the pool. This morning when I checked it I saw it is snowing out. I tried looking out the window, but it's too dark to see, but I know I'll see it in a few minutes when I leave for the pool.

It never snows much here. Once every few years, and it never stick. Until this morning when it dropped to 58 we had still been getting close to 90 every day. And hubby said it should be in the 80s again by the end of the week.
I'd like a little more cold.

@JudyEv Oh, I see.... I know those things happen, but I have lived in snow country all my life and have never been in an accident due to snow. Digging out of your house only happens once in lifetime, I think! We have to shovel snow from the sidewalks and steps, but that's just life I enjoyed doing it back when I could. As to houses being freezing cold, that's due to a lot of things besides snow, like not paying the gas bill, or having a faulty furnace or not having enough wood - all things that can be prevented..
Snow is fun and beautiful

I don't mind the cold but I could live without the snow. I have lived in the Chicago area my whole life so snow is certainly not foreign to me.
