THICKER THAN WATER.

Blood is thicker than water, but when it comes to family relationships that is not always the case - some of us have friends who are closer than a brother or a sister. It is not that I am an unfriendly person but through the years my only real female friends have been my sisters - and of course, there was the occasional boyfriend. However, I sometimes wonder if I missed out by not having my own outside circle of friends - but who knows - they might have been lots of fun , or lots of trouble. That I will never know. Do you or did you ever have a friend or circle of friends , closer to you than a brother or a sister?

I thought I had a close friend at one time but things changed and that's a closed chapter. Sometimes I wish I did have some friends but i dont get out enough to meet people and my family needs my attention. Maybe once the kids are grown I will have that friendship I never had. =)

I've never really been close to anybody @Kandae11 ; except my Mom. Even boyfriends and spouses were more of a joke.

@Kandae11 I think I'm more of a loner because there's always too much drama going on. Give your Mom a hug and lots of kisses.

I love all my brothers and sisters dearly, but yes I have one friend who I will do anything for and she will do for me. We have been friends for over 50 years and some things I will tell her but not my sisters.

Growing up I was close friends with one of my sisters. She was not only my sister but my best friend. We no longer even talk to each other or have a relationship. I had a few good friends growing up and we are still in contact today. I don't have many friends now.

@Kandae11 sorry about your sister. It is good that you are still close with your mom and sister. Our family feel apart once my mom passed away.

I have a cousin that is more than a sister to me, surely better than my own brother, who never dares to call me.

@Kandae11 Yes, he is my only sibling, we do not live in the same country. I call him to say hello and ask if he is well, he never calls me if I do not.

I have nevet been close to my brother or sister. We moved a lot in the military, so I didn't have a lot of friends. I do have a close friend now and hoping she will soon be moving back here.

I think there is big difference between the bonding among the siblings and among the friends. Sometimes our siblings can be our best of friends while our friends cannot be our own brothers or sisters.

My family (the real one) is not that close to me. We have different values and ways of thinking unfortunately. My close circle of friends is one with those who have been in close contact with me for the last 4 decades

@Kandae11 shocking isn't it! There would be years (several even) when we completely ignored each other, then suddenly, we would contact each other, visiting each other, then quiet again .

Yes they say blood is thicker than water but l have a close friend who is more than a relative, ready to take a bullet for me, went through thick and thin with me and has sacrificed more for me, more than my own siblings.

I had two close friends from school and college but we drifted through the years and don't talk or see each other anymore. I don't have a real close friend these days in the real world. I have a couple of online friends who I honestly feel closer to than some of my relatives.
