I finally drove the car to the hospital this morning because it rained continuously since the night before. My sister and my son told me that if I ride on the public transport, tendency would be my white uniform will be spotted with rain, mud, or soil. Good thing there was a space where I parked the car in the hospital. My students came in late but they are excused because of the weather disturbance. (I arrived 6:50 am). Tomorrow will be the level 3’s case colloquium. I stayed behind the other 2 clinical instructors after 3pm because I was waiting for another colleague; then our beadle received a call from our clinical coordinator that the duty of the PM shift will be cancelled because of the recent announcement of the disaster coordinating council that all classes are suspended /cancelled. I left a little later. Then this text message from my colleague Miss CC who is also handling level 3 students in medical ward on afternoon shift; she and her students were the last ones to leave the hospital; the other 2 instructors and their students left them behind. She was not sent a text or called by our CC re cancellation of duty. We had more exchange of messages. We also agreed to text each other should there be an announcement if the school activity tomorrow will be cancelled as well. That is one day less for her 15-days salary.

Smart to drive the car. I always hated wearing white anything. I am not exactly a neat person.

@ridingbet Here in the US lots of offices and hospitals have shied away from the white uniforms. I am sure its a bit of relief for most workers.

@Shellyann36 indeed. the college of nursing where i graduated from are wearing white pants and old rose blouse, and no more nursing caps. the pediatric ward nurses wear colorful Operating Room scrub suits, and it is nice to see all these changes but i still believe that a nurse's unform should always be immaculately white.

I hate cancellation specially if it was announced late. Like you have already gone to work and then you will get a message that no work for today due to bad weather. This is depressing for me. But I can't help to wonder why always send a no work announcement late.

@ridingbet Reality sucks but that is how it is. We can only adapt to that but it will be better if we can change how the system works to accommodate the ever changing world.

that was what my colleague felt too. imagine staying all-white while riding on a tricycle, and arriving early for the PM shift, then suddenly the announcement. it is so...

the clinical coordinator responded to my text at about 6:30AM so i had to rush my bath and fix myself for school. it was a surprise though that i was still the earliest clinical instructor.

@LadyDuck when i talked to him in school last Friday, he said he was waiting for the final word from our VPAA and president, and their decision came before 6AM.

the typhoon made its landfall in a town here in our province. we had to wait for further bulletin/advisory from our school.

I got the same trouble with the horrible rain several hours ago. I ended up wet like a drown rat.

the only happy people when the classes are cancelled are students.
