I Got A Few Compliments On My Artwork

I didn’t know whether I should post some of my artwork or not, but I did get a few compliments, so I’m going to share some more from time to time. I'll try not to bore you with it. It takes quite a long time to complete one coloring page, but I usually color while I’m watching the news on TV. I can listen to the news and glance up if I need to see something that’s being broadcast and then there are so many commercials, I have even more time to work on my page. And then, sometimes, I just sit in my chair and color. The difficult part is choosing the right colors and then having a steady hand, which I still do have even at my age, I’m happy to say. So far, I have quite a collection that I have completed. I really like a few of them that I have done and the others are O.K. I will try to post some of the more colorful ones. I’m wondering if anyone else on mylot enjoys coloring. For me, it’s very relaxing. My daughter tried it however, and she doesn’t care for it at all. I use fine tip gel pens now and I think she might have given up too soon. I had to search for the right pens. When I first began this new hobby, I used crayons and then colored pencils. I didn’t like the results. Then, I tried the regular gel pens and I couldn’t stay in the lines when the pattern was more intricate. I tried several different styles of gel pens before I finally found the fine tip ones. I have quite a collection of pens now. I use them all. I use the regular pens for the larger areas of the pattern and the fine tip for the smaller patterns. I wish there were more color choices in gel pens and I wish that I could find coloring books that have different patterns. I’m always looking for better patterns. Oh well, most of you are probably not interested in this at all. I just hope you enjoy seeing the finished art when I post it.

It makes me happy to know that my artwork is enjoyed by others on mylot. I am hoping to post more later and in the meantime I'm always looking for new colors to work with, instead of just the basic colors.

@jstory07 The gel pens I recommend are the fine tip gel pens. They are easier to use for the smaller details on the coloring pages. The felt tip pens are too wide to use on the smaller patterns, I have found. I use those on the bigger areas of the design, but the fine tip gel pens are necessary for the smaller spaces.

If you decide to start coloring, I recommend that you use fine tip gel pens. I tried crayons and colored pencils and regular gel pens but was not happy with the results. But now, I know what to use and I like the results so much better. Thanks for complimenting on my coloring pages.

I wasn't sure that anyone would like my artwork. I really enjoy doing these coloring pages and I only wish that there were more colors to choose from in the gel pens. I am constantly looking for new and brighter colors.

I am 32 years old and I love coloring. You are right it is so relaxing and I find that if I had a bad day or just don't feel it I can drown everything out and get lost in it.

I feel the same way. It's very relaxing to me. When I'm coloring, I just can't think about anything bad. So, for me, its an escape from the bad news and the bad weather and the bad world.

This one is even more beautiful than the first I get to see in your most recent post. Some of my batchmates in high school also does this kind of artwork with the aid of colored pencils and they post it in Facebook. But it seems I haven't seen any, since many, many months. Maybe they are now so busy.

Yes, it does take patience or at the least, concentration. And when I'm concentrating on the coloring, my mind isn't dwelling on any thing else. So, it's a sort of escape for me.

Your artwork is lovely to look at. I'm happy for you that you have found the medium you feel comfortable with and it shows in your art. " I'm proud and why shouldn't I be. There is love in my coloration", said the male peacock
