I'm prompted to make this post. Sometimes I assume a member to be "he" while the member is "she" and there are lots of misconception. I'm thinking maybe mylot should add a gender icon to mylotter's profile so we can differentiate or do l say every mylotters should indicate in their profile maybe they are "he" or "she" I'm just thinking wide

I like that kind of idea. I think it will help us to be aware of the genders of male and female

I'm at your situation and I was really embarrassed because of that mistake. So yes, I'm in favor of gender icon for mylot.

@Lizirazo Oh absolutely everything else. There are a lot of other alternatives available nowadays. So many that there might not be enough space on the profile page

Good point. In the current non-sexualised society, anyway.

It happened to me once when I thought I was communicating with a guy but it ended up being a female. Usually a profile pic gives it away but when it's very tiny sometimes it's not always clear if it's a male or a female.

@Lizirazo True. I wonder if it's okay to ask the person their gender then... Or if they will get offended...

Some don't use their pic as profile pic, so it's difficult to differentiate.

I also made a mistake by looking at a picture and thinking it was a he when it turned out to be a she. I felt horrible and apologized.

Adding gender is boon and a bane. Its boon in the case ,that we can address them as he or she.And it is a bane there are some people who would flirt if they come to know its a women and create problems. So I think its better not to add gender..

I would have been easier too. But, communicating with a person, I in time for that person. Because this is everyone's business. But, it's not a fact that they will provide reliable information

@Lizirazo I know a few people who are trans gendered and they prefer to just blend in with the crowd if you know what I mean? I think here and everywhere, it would just be nice to see other people as people who are worthy of friendship, compassion, understanding regardless if they are a woman or man. If someone mistakes me for a dude, even though I'm clearly not, I'm not going to take offense. :)

Some of the mylotters don't mention about their gender in their profile, which could cause confusion and they choose such a weird log in names that one cannot make out anything about their gender. It has happened with me many times, when I misunderstood a mylotter's gender and I had to cut a sorry figure. It would be better if mylot admin makes gender disclosure a mandatory feature on a new member's profile page. Till a new member discloses his/her gender, s/he may not be allowed to sign up.

i like that idea. especially since they often give no info at all about themselves. some don't even have their age or country there. makes it hard to communicate

While you are at it put a member or administration icon or it could be gentle or bossy icon. What about people who are going through gender transition? Just thinking wide.
