I was mistaken for a boy when I was a kid

When I was a kid I used to wear red flannel/plaid overalls. They were one of my fave things to wear. As was a ponytail.
I remember there were times when I would be on a city bus wearing my overalls, and having my short ponytail, and old ladies would ask me "are you getting off the bus boy?". It still baffles my mind that they thought I was a boy. I wonder, did they think that because I wore overalls?
I am not sure how old I was back then but definitely under 8.
Has it ever happened to you?

You need not worry about that these days.

It happened many years ago... and I still remember it. It's rather funny when I think about it. But in today's world, if someone is mistaken for another gender, it may not be funny but instead be deemed offensive.

Lol. I've been mistaken for a guy alot of times. And it doesn't bother me. It's actually funny. I would deliberately pull back my hair tight and Wear a cap with baggy jeans and a t-shirt and oh yeah, I'm a guy. Lol. At times, it's not funny, though. But yay!!!!!

It hasn't happened to me, but when I was in Grade 5, one of the other kids didn't believe that this girl was a girl. I recognized her. She was in the same grade as me, just in a different class. She like her hair short and liked playing with some guys, but she was a girl. She was just more of a tomboy.

@lovebuglena And that's fine. Every kid is different.

When I was a little kid I wore dresses, but as I got older I wasn't much of a dress or skirt person. I was a bit of a tomboy.

What kind of hairstyle did he have? Sometimes if boys have long hair some people think they are girls, especially if it's curly or wavy. And I don't know why that is because the face gives it away if it's a girl or a boy.
