It's happening

United Kingdom

I've tried very hard to stay out of arguments on here since I came back to the new mylot, and I've done really well so far, but sometimes people just have to be told. There's a way to do it though, without it turning into an explosion. If you haven't got anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all, dear

@Orson_Kart There's plenty of me to go around! Well, at least there will be until I lose all this weight

I felt like he was talking down to me, and I posted this in anger, but now I wonder if I misunderstood... but either way the discussion itself was a dividing topic and it was going to cause an argument with someone, I just happened to take the baton

Just have the attitude that you just really could careless. I figure it this way opinions are like butt holes everybody has one that's why I don't really care to much about what someone says. There's no need to, you say your opinion let them say theirs no matter how they want to express it. It's how they feel about it so who cares about trying to censor someone's right to say what they want and how they feel.

I've got no choice but to point out that this isn't about our disagreement on the men/women post I originally posted this in response to my anger at the way the poster of that discussion worded some of his comments back to me

Specifically when he called me "dear". I'm not someone who usually cares when people call me dear or anything like that, but from him in that context it felt too condescending to ignore

There's no censorship on my end though, I've never said that people can't voice their opinions

I am fortunate not to see too many nasties any more. I would never explode, though I might wish to destroy I do not come here to fight and be angry.

I've never enjoyed conflict, it causes me a lot of stress but when I was younger I felt like I had something to prove

I've been having some very good discussions of late without arguments at all. No complaints what so ever. That is a good thing to say. Sorry to hear if you run across some not so nice ones.

It's happened once in a few years so I'd say that's good going

@LilyBeBack It does. I've read many reports of explosions and the like but it is only now and then. Question for you. Why do we recall the worst times and not the better ones? It seems to be human nature that we do that, you think.

@Bluedoll During my time in call centres I learned that it takes ten good experiences to forget/cancel out one bad one. I think it's probably a misplaced animal instinct to avoid danger or pain

I consider myLot my place to go for peace and tranquility, an opportunity for me to unwind after a long and stressful day. So, with that being said, if I come across subjects or topics that I don't agree with, or comments that anger me, I will just usually ignore them and move on. However, if I can respectfully disagree with someone and know that I can engage in civil discourse with them without wanting to strangle them, then I will. But I will avoid those myLotters that I know cannot handle a respectful conversation without going down the dark path of hatred and filth.

I have tried that too. Thankfully, I haven't run into a lot of them anymore.

I try my best to avoid it - I don't see much that gets me mad any more, it's probably because I know it's best to ignore it
