There is one Filipino tradition and a timeof the year that Filipinos visit the tombs of departed love ones, its the All Saints Day and All Soul's Day particularly November 1 and 2.
On this day the cemetery comes alive (not the dead) and so with the memories of the departed friends and families.
The cemetery is so alive that it become a festivities. Almost all of the people visit the cemetery. Some families make bonding in the front of the tomb and some eating together. If only allowed there can also a concert and gig in the place. Night and day people gather in the cemetery.
At that time the cemetery is so clean and beautiful.

it shouldn't be partying, but because of new celebration it is becoming like that. It should be remembering the departed one in solemn and peaceful prayer.

In bigger cemetery like in Metro Manila, millions of people are gathering there. In our place which is very small in number, thousands.

Indeed, it's during these two days that the cemetery isn't something to scared of at night.
When I was still in my youth, me and my group of friends would meet at the cemetery visit and pray for each one's loved ones. We would stay there until 10 in the evening.

Maybe this is the reason why some local government unit are not allowing this in a cemetery but there are some that doing this.

Sometimes, it is too festive and people visiting the cemeteries cannot concentrate on saying a prayer for their dearly beloved.

Yes the cemetery now is like fiesta that is too much like a party and picnic rather than visiting the tombstone of departed love one.

our cemetery here is still so dirty and full of 'cadena de amor' vines. last Saturday, we 3 went to visit our parents' tombstones and we saw that the grass and reeds were tall, sao we talked to the caretaker; he cleaned it last Sunday.

@ilocosboy yes, and they meet us with those hoes and crowbars asking, "Ma'am, palinis?" we would tell them that we have a caretaker.

Yeah, during this time of season the caretaker are getting a lot of job, they are earning well. Usually they can be seen at the front of the cemetery and asking the people if they need to take off the weeds and paint the tombstones.
