I recently decided to start working on a new poetry/lyric book. I started my manuscript, added a few poems and lyrics that were already written but not previously published, and that was it. Did nothing else, so the book was at a standstill.
I have to start writing new stuff or the book will never come to life. Thing is, I don't feel inspired to write. Maybe if I use the writing prompts I post on my FB writing group Creative Writers Spotlight I'll actually be inspired to write.
There is definitely some small progress on the book being made though, as I have a few pieces in the book already (though not newly written ones), and a front cover image and possible book title thanks to my friend.
While helping him with a book cover for his new poetry book (which I will publish for him) I ended up coming across an image of his that I fell in love with. Thought he'd wanna use it for his book cover but he declined, so I asked him if it'd be okay if I used it for my book. He said yes, so now I have a front cover image and a possible title to work with. Let's just hope I won't change my mind and want something else later on.

I love writing poetry, but I feel ya there. On top of that, I have absolutely zero publishing skills, so I typically just post my poems on Vocal :)

I just wrote three poems. That is a great sign. If I keep on at it and not leave my laptop I will write more it feels like.
As far as publishing skills go... you learn and become better at it as you publish more books.

@lovebuglena I mainly have issues with actually completing works to publish them, lol.
Keep at it, you're doing great! :)

@pixiequeer Well, that's a different story altogether. I have started writing a new novel/novella some time ago. Not only is it not published, it's not even 1/4 of the way written. And for some reason I can't bring myself to go back to it and continue writing. Maybe one day. Same is true for my new poetic tale I started writing, which is linked to the first poetic tale I wrote and published. Have to get back to it and continue writing. That will give me two more books to publish. :) Someone I used to be friends with has over 35 published books, either solo or as a co-author. Would be nice for me to have that many... But it's not a race. I don't want to put something out there that I am not a fan of, just to have it out and increase the number of books I published.
