Do you think McDonald's is really healthy?

Now that they advertise they stopped cooking with transfats, and that they use only healthy oil to fry their potatoes and other foods, do you think McDonald's is really healthy? I have to admit they have made a great leap of effort in the last few years, serving salad and grilled chicken and fruit and yogurt. Still, they have a reputation of about 4 decades of fatty carbohydrate ridden cuisine. Do you suppose they will ever really shake that reputation?

You need to get the movie "Super Size Me." In this movie this guy eats nothing but McDonald's food for 30 days. I think this movie is what has changed McDonald's ways, but don't be fooled. They are still doing stuff to the food.

I'm glad they're making the effort. I don't want to discourage fast-food places from trying, because, if they could eventually start serving genuinely healthy food, I'd appreciate the convenience.
Right now I have to pack snacks and meals for me and my kids every time I go out somewhere. It doesn't bother me that much, but it's time consuming, and some days it would be great to just leave the house and not have to worry about keeping the food cold until we need it.
My husband likes to stop at McDs, if we're on a long road trip, and I'm glad that there's at least something I can eat there now. I think the salad dressing is ridiculously unhealthy though, so eat my salads without it.

I cant eat there at all. I read an article one time that said that they bought more cow eye balls than any other company.. Now were are they going? Just the thought of it is enough to turn my stomach.

Are you kidding? Almost every food they sell has sugar or corn syrup in it. Someone even proved they put sugar in their salads at one point. Salads!
Of course it all depends on how you define healthy. Some people think that as long as something is low fat it is healthy. Some think that low carb is healthy. And, I am sure McDonalds is healthier than some other fast foods out there, so it is all relative.

I have heard it said, in general that there is SALT in everything we eat. It was even stated that there is salt in sugar because we could not stand it's full sweetness, I don't know if it's true but it's possible I suppose. I also heard that McD has a special chemistry company that makes its hamburger seasonings so that the hamburger will taste the way "a hamburger is supposed to taste."

All I have to say about this is:
How many McDonald's Bucks do you need until you can get a free angioplasty??

I don't think they're healthy overall, but they have added a few healthy items to the menu.

Wouldn't call it healthy, but it's OK as long as you don't eat it too often (same with pizza, ice cream, etc.). It's good McD's has healthier options, for those times when they're the only eating option nearby. You can get a salad or yogurt parfait and it's OK. I don't think they'll ever change from burgers and fries, that's what they're known for and people will always want those, no matter how unhealthy they are.

i dont believe that mcdonalds will ever be healthy food. BUT, I do not think that most any fast food and most sit down restaurants are all that healthy either. The dirty little secret of restaurants is that even when they serve low fat or low card or low anything food they still have high levels of sodium in order to maintain the good taste of the food. Of course if you think that you are getting something good off of the "healthy" choices part of the menu you may not be worried about that but if you have high blood pressure that is a major concern. It will always be better to just prepare your own food at home from scratch. I just wish we all had the time and energy at the end of the day to do so and only ate out as a rare treat rather than a substitute for cooking
