I have noticed that there are a lot of readers here on Mylot. A few years ago I downloaded the Kindle app for my laptop so that I could read books. Some of the ebooks you have to pay for, while others are free. You just need to know where to look.
Now since I downloaded the app, things got hectic and I have not been able to relax and read for a few months. I decided that I need to take a little time out for myself and read again. If you want to download the app to read free Kindle books on your laptop then you can go to...
https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201245960
To get the free ebooks you will have to create an Amazon account which is free to do.
Once your account is open, then type in ebooks free in the Amazon search bar. It will take you to an area where the books are free. Click on a book and say ‘Buy Now With One Click’ Make sure it is still free as some authors start giving it for free and then add a price.
Then say add to the device and your computers name. and viola the ebook will be in your Kindle app ready to read whenever you are.
They have a variety of book and more get added daily. Romance, Thriller, Factual, Children, Horror, Drama and Paranormal.

I also love reading in bed, and I love being able to hold a book in my hands. However with the price of books nowdays, it is just a luxury at the moment. So kindle app is the way I go.

@Chantiele My husband has a very rare disease, he is sensible to radiations emitted by electronic stuff. I cannot use Kindle (or a phone, or a tablet) in bed, he is near me and he will immediately get strong headaches. We own almost 3,000 paper books, I have enough stuff to read in bed.

I was thinking about doing this, but I also like to hold the book in my hand while I am reading it.

The library is a great place to get books. However our library is not as big as I would have expected. Most of their books areally childrens books, or factual books. They have a smallish collection on adult fiction

@Chantiele Here the libraries work together for interlibrary loans. I can request books and they might come from any of about 40 different libraries around the province.

Thank you for the information. I have a friend where I sell that brings me books to read and I return to her after I read them. I do not pay for them. If I want to buy a book then I go to a good 2nd hand bookstore and get money off books I bring to them if it is something they take and get others or take the credit till I want to get books from them.

We had a place like that here. However it was more a book exchange. You give them two books, you get to take 1.
