Understanding is what's needed. It depends on your nature what kind of person you would be comfortable with, and friend's nature would be different at least by some degrees. You need to be a good listener, but you also need to make sure that you are not a dumping ground for someone else's issues. Friendship is a nice thing, but like all other emotional relationships, it can be one sided.(Been there, done that.) The second thing is trust, which of course comes after understanding. And lastly, it all depends on what kind of friend you would love to have.

Patience.. It is indeed needed... Coz once we loose patience.. We don't wait for other to speak even. Today it has happened..i felt so sad.. Atleast give a time to talk. But call was disconnected.

I think one should not expect much from a friend as once you start expecting things from him or her you may get disappointed once they don't fulfill your expectations.

Yes... Never expect.. But other should fulfill the things needed in a relationship by itself atleast. This is what I think. Basic duties to be performed. Otherwise is it friendship or just casual friends.

Someone that will stick with you not only through good times but bad as well. Someone that will stick up for you when you are not around to defend yourself. Someone that is loyal. Someone that cares and even if you far away will keep in touch with you no matter if you go back there or not.

This is one of the best responses I have read. This is what I too expect from a friend. Thanks for your reply.

Friendship needs to work both ways. More often than not there is one that puts more effort into it than the other and then those friendships fade. What ultimately did it for me and showed me who my true friends were was when my Dad passed away from cancer at the age of 64 in 2016. Lets just say my "friends" list got a whole lot shorter.

I think to have a strong relationship each person has to consider the other person and treat them with respect and like they would like to be treated.
