I was reading an article about Japanese food. I came to know that Japanese eat a rice dish which is called “Nama tamago.” They mix a raw egg in the hot rice along with soy sauce to taste. The egg gets very slightly cooked and kind of turns into a sauce. This is very often topped with furikake. We don't usually eat raw eggs or mix raw eggs for direct eating in any dish, therefore it was a kind of new information to me.
This information triggered a question - Do you eat raw eggs or mix raw egg in any dish which is a kind of specialty at your place?

It means that you enjoy eating “Nama tamago'' and you do not mind taking raw egg in this dish, otherwise you won't eat raw eggs.

I can eat raw eggs similar to what you described, placed on top of very hot steaming rice but no sauce only salt, actually the hot rice would cook it and turn it somewhat similar to soft boiled egg. I can only do it with farm very fresh eggs and one that has not been refrigerated.

It is interesting to hear that you could actually eat raw eggs, similar to the Japanese dish viz. “Nama tamag. Yes, you are right that heat of boiled rice would cook the raw egg and it will be life half cooked and could be enjoyed.

@louievill I know that raw or half boiled eggs are usually given to kids. When we were little kids, we also used to be fed half boiled eggs. The Japanese idea to put raw egg on steamy hot rice does not seem bad to me. In this case egg cooks naturally.
It is interesting to know that you used to get fresh eggs through poultry of your ant and you used to enjoy that.

@dpk262006 it's the first time I heard that the Japanese do that lol, I thought we were the only ones who do it, it is usually given to very young kids growing up.
My Aunts who grew up in the province fed this to me since they are used to eating newly laid eggs my grandpa fed to them. In the 60s our neighbor had a small backyard poultry so my aunts always ask for newly laid, another thing is small brown eggs were used instead of the large white ones.

Do you care or you do not care for egg smell because you said you won't eat it raw. I understand that those who do not like smell of egg, normally won't eat raw or half boiled egg.
I have not heard earlier that some people use the raw egg in their drinks. Sounds a bit strange to me.

@ManastheMatrix A raw egg contains roughly 10 grams of fat. I am not sure how much it would have helped to take 2 raw eggs daily.
Did he gain some weight after taking 2 raw eggs per day, say after a month?

We make Eggnog often with raw eggs beaten , nutmeg powder and sugar and mixed into hot milk. It is normally given to expectant mothers or when someone has cold and chest congestion a little brandy is mixed into this. My children have it for breakfast since it is nutritious

@dpk262006 You can try it for breakfast , very healthy. Adding rum or Brandy is optional. My granny had asthma and she would have eggnog often with some Brandy and she found it very soothing

@dpk262006 I was introduced to the practice in a Korean food establishment with a meal name I couldn't pronounce. Sorry, I meant in heating. I find different eggs cook differently was all I meant. It's good to keep an eye on our pan.

When I get ikura or masago sushi I always request a quail egg on top (which is served raw). It is delicious!

@dpk262006 yes, and I just learned that it is also good for diabetes if you mix it with chili and a bit of salt. I can't imagine drinking it.
Know about Dr. Jaime Dy-Liacco's discovery of the 'miracle cure' for diabetes everyone needs to know. This is something incredible! Be informed.

It means that you feel afraid of parasites and germs, which could surface in a raw egg. You are right possibility cannot be ruled out. It is better to take cooked eggs.

It may be healthy to eat raw eggs, provided one could eat it, either mixing it in a dish or drink.
Understandably, you have not tried raw eggs but you are planning to eat it, how come this realization came?

Your response tells that originally you do not belong to Japan. Is not it? You did not like to eat raw eggs, till you landed in Japan but later on you apparently accepted their culture. Eating rice with beef and tofu is altogether a different thing than eating hot rice with a raw egg on its top.
